Claimed: Little Chances for USA? [1/2]

It’s time for the Season 56 World Cup and Peter Quill will be the first line center on a young United States of America team. This will be the first time that Quill will play on a line together with Gabriel McAllister, his new teammate. While it is unlikely that they will play together in Seattle due to Quill not being the best center on the team, it will be a nice first test to see if the two have any chemistry. In the first game Gabriel McAllister showed why Seattle depend on him as a big part of their future by scoring three goals versus the mercenaries team.  Peter Quill on the other hand, was not doing so much as he only got one assist in the 5-4 win.

I don’t think the expectations are very high yet for this USA team, but for the next world cup this young core should be able to fight for the gold medal. If the team of outcasts (no offence mercs) can only be defeated by a single goal, I don’t think the team has what it takes to win this tournament, so Quill and Co. will have to wait it out for another year. If however, the USA wants to have a chance, they will likely have to rely on current superstar Diana Maxwell. Maxwell came close to winning the cup with Davos last season but fell short in the finals against Quebec, the team she got traded too the day after. I’m quite  sure she skipped out on the cup victory parties though and will only officially join up with the team after the World Cup has finished. Maxwell is in the final years of her career and this World Cup might be her last shot at glory. After Maxwell, McAllister is already the big name, showing how much of a youth movement the USA is right now.

A different reason for the United States to be a suprising winner could be goaltender Apollo Skye, the goaltender of the Quebec City Meute was close to losing the finals after the HC Davos Dynamo scored 9 goals on the Meute, but got himself together and proven himself important in the cup deciding game. It will be of upmost importance for the USA to have Skye on a good day instead of the bad.

While it is all a crapshoot on who will win this tournament, the USA have the talent to be considered an outsider, but they will have to rely a lot on their star power in order to make this possible. The young team with the two aging veterans has a lot of potential, but it is a matter of getting it to work. The lack of strong depth could break them up, especially with Quill and Boeser in the middle, neither of them is considered to be a face off specialist so this could break them up. Let’s just hope Maxwell will be at her strongest to take this team by hand and lead it to a medal. Maxwell, Skye and McAllister, we are counting on you to make America great again.

REVIEW:

I already said it all in Street's article, but I also need to mention Skye once again, he's a legit goalie. Still fighting for the MVP and best goalie awards even though he's already on second stage of regression and he's not even a TPE whore. Good to have a goalie like this in your team.

Like I said earlier in aforementioned thread, I agree with this. This team could dethrone Canada in the next event. Good luck on doing that unless you're playing the Team World.
