Welcome back to this seasons draft breakdown by none other then Beaviss the recently elected VHLM Commissioner and Manager of the Ottawa Lynx. This year the Ottawa Lynx had a very successful draft after losing in the Finals to the damned Las Vegas Aces. This year the Lynx are positioned to push hard into the playoffs.

4. :ott: Ottawa Lynx: Adam Warlock, TPE: 73 @Green

The first pick by the Ottawa lynx is a very offensive defenceman. A large reason why the Lynx did so well last season was because of the stellar play by the defensive core. Beaviss knew that since he was losing John Snow to free agency he needed to shore up the defense so he can run all 3 Defensive lines. Beaviss is hoping that Warlock can provide the offensive threat that Snow brought last season.

9. :ott:Ottawa Lynx :ssk:  Saskatoon Wild:Kriztof Mueller, TPE: 39 @ADV

With the 9th overall pick the Ottawa Lynx are proud to select..... WAIT we have a trade.

:ott: Ottawa receives Briane O Tarth @murguy

                                -

:ssk: Saskatoon receives Ottawa's 2nd S57 (9th overall)

Knowing how badly the loss of top goaltender Ike Arkander was going to hurt the Lynx this season Beaviss makes a move to grab the now top goaltender Briane O Tarth. The goal tending situation this season in the VHLM is pretty bleak. The top goaltender in the draft was a at best a solid backup at the moment. Because Ottawa is wanting to earn a cup this season he went all in for O Tarth. Time will tell if this trade works in favor for the Lynx.

14. :ott: Ottawa Lynx: Questionable Fart, TPE: 30 @Mook

With the Lynx's 2nd pick of the draft and 3rd round pick the Lynx are proud to select Questionable Fart.

Fart seems to be a diamond in the round of the 3rd round hopefully his potential out weights his current playing ability. Scouts have this players potential rated as top line Left Wing. Beaviss hopes some one on one time training him could provide tons of depth for the Lynx.

19. :ott: Ottawa Lynx: Longrod Vod Danglecoch, TPE:52 @Kmarko

Surprised that Von Danglecoch was still available into the 4th round Beaviss made sure to scoop him up. Projected to be the Lynx's 2nd or 3rd line center depending on how training camp goes. The Coaching staff is very excited on the depth this player could provide if he keeps his training up. This is a very boom or bust pick for the Lynx.

21. :ott: Ottawa Lynx (from Oslo Storm): Launchpad McQuack, TPE: 138 @KGR

Starting the 5th round the Lynx took a risk on a surprising pick. Launchpad McQuack has previously stated that he no longer wishes to play for a VHLM team as he believes himself able to hold down a solid position in the VHL. Beaviss having previous ties to the player took a flyer on him because he hopes to sway the agency and team that holds his rights. Beaviss had this to say about the situation "The Lynx's McQuack pick seems to be a very controversial pick with the media. The Lynx are hoping that McQuack will come back and finish what we started last season and bring a cup back to Ottawa. McQuack could single handily bring the cup to Ottawa and we couldn't chance missing out on him if his VHL stint does not go over well. We will be talking to all parties involved and find the best solution for McQuack and if that's the VHL we wish him all the best.

24. :ott: Ottawa Lynx: Zach Weise, TPE: 43 @AlphaHawken

With the Lynx's 2nd pick in the 5th round the Lynx picked Zach Weise. Hes a player known for his skating and scoring ability. While the Lynx picked another boom or bust pick, the Lynx management are sure that Weise can step up his training from last season. The Lynx signed this player last season hoping that his hard training would continue but the player kind of peaked for the moment. Hopefully the trust that the Lynx show by drafting this player will give Weise the motivation that he needs to become a solid VHL/VHLM player.

Now to summarize the draft. The Lynx are very happy at where they got every player the Lynx were tempted on taking Weise at a higher point of the draft but decided that he could be a big sleeper that no one would see coming. Hoping that falling in the draft would also be a wake up call to Weise as well as giving the Lynx to take a chance at McQuack instead. Last year a highly controversial player Ko Kane pulled a similar stunt to Launchpad and it seemed to turn out well since Ko Kane played almost a full season with Oslo (took a flyer on him).

Here's hoping that the Lynx can continue last years success(except the finals) onto this upcoming season and take a cup back home to Ottawa!
