In the Beginning...

 

The venerable Casey Jones, a well-known vigilante crime fighter in New York City, recently signed with the Los Vegas Aces of the VHLM. The 24-year-old had been a high school sports standout, playing varsity baseball, hockey, and basketball, along with being an active member of the track team, before a torn ACL put a serious halt on his collegiate sports prospects. As  a below average student, Casey's physical skills were his only chance to get a college scholarship, and not a single school was willing to give the 6'1" star a chance, due to the severity of his injury.

 

Casey was eventually able to rebuild his knee enough that he tried out for a semi-pro hockey team in Utica, New York. Making the team though that opportunity, Casey had moderate success as a somewhat-pugilistic defender, where he quickly gained a reputation for having a booming slapshot. Unfortunately, a cheap shot to the back of his knee put his semi-pro career on the shelf, and after a battery of medical examinations, he was cut from the team.

 

Harnessing his natural competitiveness and aggressiveness, Casey began using the "tools of the trade" - hockey sticks, golf clubs, cricket bats - to fight the growing crime epidemic in and around Central Park. Through a series of almost unbelievable events, Casey found himself fighting - and later cooperating - with a giant, humanoid turtle named Raphael. Raphael was a master of Ninjitsu, but Casey's sheer physicality was enough to earn him a victory in his initial confrontation with the reptilian martial artist, after he was able to club Raphael under the jaw with a cricket bat. 

 

 

The rapid incline in criminal activity in The Big Apple ended up being largely connected to an organized crime outfit called The Foot Clan. The Foot had origins in Japan, and their activities ranged from purse snatching and shoplifting to torture and attempted murder. Casey, along with Raphael and his three Testudinesal brothers, were able to successfully infiltrate the headquarters of The Foot Clan, free the turtles mentor – a large, humanoid rat named Splinter – and defeat a majority of the members of the gang in physical combat. Casey played an integral role in this victory, as he not only bested Tatsu, the head martial arts trainer for the gang, but he did so in front of a number of the newer members of The Foot. Many of these youths suddenly realized the error of their ways and sought new paths toward helping the community instead of robbing from it.

 

 

Casey was also present as the Turtles defeated the head of The Foot, Oroku Saki, in combat on a New York City rooftop. Saki, who had adopted the name The Shredder as he built a branch of the ancient Foot Clan in the United States, was flung from the roof by Splinter, and landed in the back of a conveniently-located garbage truck. Casey “accidentally” pulled the compression lever, ostensibly crushing Splinter.

 

Romance and Samurai

 

Along the way, Casey met up with a television news reporter by the name of April O’Neil. Casey and April’s relationship was very hot and cold, almost sitcom-esque in its inconsistency, but the two did eventually date and get married. Commitment was a new concept to Casey, however, and in the face of adult responsibilities, the heroic crime fighter fled the city for a time. He returned after approximately a year, at the request of Splinter, to help care for four ancient Japanese Samurai, who were mystically transported to modern New York City. Through the power of a magic lantern, Casey’s four Turtle friends were transported to feudal Japan in place of the ancient Honor Guards. Eventually the Turtles and the Honor Guards returned to their own times, and Casey once again proved a valuable addition to the group.

 

 

When he returned to New York City to help Splinter, Casey revealed that before he had married April, he had fallen in love with a pregnant woman named Gabrielle and, after a whirlwind romance, married her. Gabrielle tragically died in child birth, and Casey was left to raise his stepdaughter, whom he named Shadow. It was during this time that Shadow met April, who eventually became her stepmother. Casey also revealed to April that his given name was Arnold, but that he preferred to go by his middle name. 

 

Moving Forward

 

Through all of this, though, Casey never lost his desire to play professional hockey. Now in his mid-20s, Casey has lived the life of a much older man and has had many unique experiences. Determined not to let his knee injuries take away his passion for the Coolest Game on Ice, Casey began to prepare for a try out opportunity with the Los Vegas Aces. Much of his skill had declined due to dormancy, but he still possessed a powerful, heavy shot and decent, if not remarkable, skating prowess. Luckily for Casey, the Aces were willing to bring him in slowly, allowing him the opportunity to grow accustomed to the system, his new defensive partner, and re-acclimate himself with the game as he shook off the rust. Through nine regular season games, Jones had zero points and a -8 rating, though he did see time on the first power play unit, where he generated a decent number of scoring chances.

 

With time and a little good fortune in avoiding injuries, it is difficult to imagine that the raw potential of Casey Jones goes unfulfilled. He is a physical specimen and has overcome a lifetime’s worth of adversity in just 24 years, ranging from ACL injuries to the death of loved ones to the struggle of single parenting to facing a well-organized crime syndicate. While he develops in the Los Vegas system, notching his first point in his first playoff game for the Aces, it’s anyone’s guess where he’ll be selected heading toward the VHLM draft. One thing is for certain, however: no matter how hard it gets, no matter how much of an uphill struggle he faces, Casey Jones simply will not quit.

Well written biography with very interesting and original story(why didn't I think of Casey Jones) very interesting read.

Great formatting and the gifs make it for a very lively and entertaining read. One major knock I have on the Biography is the Los Vegas spelling mistake the correction would be Las Vegas. Other then the spelling mistakes your biography is original and well laid out.

 

All in all i would give it a 4.5/5 as the spelling mistake knocks a .5 letter grade off.
