Claimed: I like Muffins [1/2]

Recommended Posts

This was a pretty tough random draw at this point. Our first round match up is Roman Andreev vs Joey Clarence aka @.sniffuM. Let us go on with the career write up of Mr.Clarence.

First off, Seattle acquired this pick from New York in a trade that sent RW Keyvan Kljk, G Alex Young, and rights to D Emerson Hrynyk for Erik Pysyk, Season 18 Calgary 1st Round Pick (C Anton Brekker), Season 18 Seattle 3rd ( G Joey Clarence) and a Season 19 New York 2nd Round Pick (RW Adam Scharfe). For those who were around during this time, who do you think won this trade. Seattle drafts Joey Clarence in the 3rd round, 19th overall.

Season 18 Playoffs
S18 - VHLM - SSK - 6 GP | 2 W | 4 L | 0 OTL | 0.871 SV% | 5.00 G.A.A | 0 SO | 0 A

After being drafted by the Bears, Clarence was sent down to their minor league affiliate at the time which was the Saskatoon Wild. Joey had a very fine season with Saskatoon with a 56-11-4 record including 1 shutout and 3 assists. Joey had a 0.909 save percentage and a 3.44 G.A.A which might not look very good but during this time players in the VHLM, would routinely get almost 200 points a season. So these numbers, are pretty good by VHLM standards.

The Wild would play the Brampton Battalion in the first round of the playoffs, which might as well have been the finals. After 6 hard fought games, the Wild bowed out of the playoffs. Joey had a 2-4-0 record with a 0.871 save percentage and a 5 G.A.A. Not a very good playoff showing by Joey but to be fair the Brampton Battalion were one of the better teams in VHLM history to that point.

Season 19 - Seattle Bears

Season 19 Regular Season

Season 19 Playoffs
S19 - VHL - SEA - N/A

After a nice season in the VHLM, Joey was called up to the VHL to play with the Seattle Bears. Joey put up a 28-32-3 record with a 0.905 save percentage and a 3.36 G.A.A. Not the best stats in the world but not bad for a rookie goalie in the VHL. Joey also put up 5 assists. The Bears finished in last place in the North American Conference, 8 points behind a playoff spot held by the Toronto Legion.

Season 20 - Seattle Bears

Season 20 Regular Season
S20 - VHL - SEA - 64 GP | 35 W | 25 L | 4 OTL | 0.903 SV% | 3.10 G.A.A | 2 SO | 4 A

Season 20 Playoffs
S20 - VHL - SEA - 4 GP | 0 W | 3 L | 1 OTL | 0.879 SV% | 3.43 G.A.A | 0 SO | 0 A

In Joey's second season, he improved to a 35-25-4 record with a 0.903 save percentage and a 3.10 G.A.A with 2 shutouts and 4 assists. This was good enough to propel the Bears in a playoff spot, 44 points ahead of 3rd place. The Bears would play the Legion in the first round and were swept. The Legion were a very strong team at the time and a young Bears team were simply not up to par. Joey had a record of 0-3-1 with a 0.879 save percentage and a 3.43 G.A.A.

Season 21 - Seattle Bears

Season 21 Regular Season

Season 21 Playoffs
S21 - VHL - SEA - 7 GP | 3 W | 4 L | 0 OTL | 0.935 SV% | 2.00 G.A.A | 1 SO | 1 A

In Season 21, Seattle improved to 47-9-9 with a 0.919 save percentage and a 2.21 G.A.A with 3 shutouts and 7 assists. This was Joey's best season to date and arguably his best in his career. The Bears made the playoffs for the 2nd season in a row and would play the Toronto Legion for the 2nd year in a row. This time the Bears would not be swept. In 7 games, the Bears fell to the Legion. Joey had a record of 3-4-0 with a 0.935 save percentage and a 2 G.A.A with 1 shutout and 1 assists. Joey tried his best to move to the finals but the Legion were just too strong.

Season 22 - Calgary Wranglers

Season 22 Regular Season

Season 22 Playoffs
S22 - VHL - CGY - 7 GP | 3 W | 4 L | 0 OTL | 0.940 SV% | 1.87 G.A.A | 2 SO | 0 A

In the off-season, the Bears thought it was time to rebuild after not being able to compete with the Legion for two straight seasons. Joey Clarence and Dante Terragni were traded to Calgary for Alessandro Messi, Season 23 Calgary 1st Round Draft Pick (David Webb), Season 23 Calgary 3rd Round Pick (Ryan McBuckly), Season 24 Calgary 1st Round Draft Pick (Rauno Pajari) and a Season 24 Calgary 2nd Round Draft Pick (Donald Kaufman). In Joey's first season in Calgary, he put up a record of 44-14-7 with a 0.920 save percentage and a 2.22 G.A.A with 5 shutouts and 1 assist. A nice showing for a new starter in Calgary.

The Wranglers would make the playoffs by a 44 point margin and would play you guessed it, Joey's favorite team the Toronto Legion. After 7 games, Joey and his team were knocked out of the playoffs. Joey had a record of 3-4-0 with a 0.940 save percentage and a 1.87 G.A.A and 2 shutouts. You can not blame this series lost on Clarence as he really wanted to beat them this time.

Season 23 - Calgary Wranglers

The Wranglers finished 1 point behind the Legion for top spot in the North American Conference. In a surprise turn of events, the Wranglers beat the Legion 4-1 in the series before going to battle with the Helsinki Titans in the finals. The Wranglers would be crowned the Season 23 VHL Champions after the series with Helsinki and Joey Clarence got his championship. Joey had a record of 8-3-1 with a 0.926 save percentage and a 1.79 G.A.A and 2 shutouts.

Season 24 - Calgary Wranglers/New York Americans

Season 24 Playoffs
S24 - VHL - NYA - 5 GP | 1 W | 4 L | 0 OTL | 0.903 SV% | 2.40 G.A.A | 0 SO | 0 A

Halfway through the season, Calgary was going into full rebuild mode and decided to trade Joey Clarence to the New York Americans. Joey was traded with Dante Terragni and a Season 25 Calgary 3rd Round Draft Pick (RW Aiden Richan) for Milos Langden and a Season 25 New York 2nd Round Pick (RW Bahr Downey). The Americans would make the playoffs by a 31 point margin over Calgary. Between Calgary and New York, Clarence had a 31-25-4 record with a 0.925 save percentage and a 2.13 G.A.A with 5 shutouts and 1 assist.

The Americans would play the Toronto Legion making it every year in the 1st round, Joey Clarence would play the Legion. This made it 5 out of 6 times, his team would lose in the Toronto Legion. Joey had a record of 1-4-0 with a 0.903 save percentage and a 2.40 G.A.A. Joey would have been able to play one more season in the VHL but decided to call it a career.

His individual award cabinet is not full and in fact has 0 awards but he played in a very strong era which included Aiden Shaw, Daisuke Kanou and Jakob Kjledsen.
