The addition of Peter Quill to the roster of the Las Vegas Aces has not been really successful so far. Despite breaking the record of longest unbeaten streak (by just a one game margin as well) the team also has gotten their two first losses of the season. Both losses came after Peter was given an actual slot in the line-up.  The last three games before Quill was playing as just an ‘extra forward’ were all won with shutouts. The Ottawa Lynx were beaten 2-0, the Oslo Storm was beaten with the exact same score, while the Yukon Rush got to endure a real blow-out with a 6-0 score.

 

 

 

The games were Quill started to get used to being on the ice, were a lot closer but his ice time was mostly limited due to most of the players being fit enough to start their own shifts on the ice. The first game Peter played in, they won 3-1 versus the Oslo Storm. However, the upcoming games versus the Wild and the Lynx were actually decided with just a single goal. The Saskatoon Wild were beaten 3-2, while the Ottawa Lynx were beaten in a high scoring thriller with a 5-4 score.

 

The first game where Peter was given a starting spot on the third line was versus the Ottawa Lynx, during the deciding game to see if they could get the record for themselves. With another 2-1 win (luckily Quill was not on the ice for the goal against at least) they managed to take the record. Euphoria didn’t last for long though, as in his second and third game as a starter he endured two losses. The Ottawa Lynx only needed either 6 or 7 re-sims until they were able to outscore the Aces with a 5-1 blowout, Quill was a minus 1 here and wasn’t able to contribute much offensively. The other game, he was once again a minus 1 as the Aces lost versus the Yukon Rush, who were on the bottom of the league. And once again, Quill was held scoreless.

After the back-to-back losses, the Aces managed to squeeze out another win versus the Ottawa Lynx. Quill, still playing like a scrub was on the ice for the only goal scored against them, ruining the shutout for Vernon von Axelberry. So far his entrance in the VHLM is not a very successful one. Versus the Oslo Storm, which were held to a shutout, Quill only played for less than 9 minutes, due to his recent games, the top 2 lines were getting more workload.

 

 

But then, his big moment finally came, when the Las Vegas Aces meet with the Ottawa Lynx again. After the Aces already scored 21 seconds into the game on the powerplay (which happened after just three seconds), Peter Quill finally was able to get on the scoreboard. After an assist from Aksel Syndergaard and Takashi Fujimoto he scored the goal that in the end turned out to be the game winning one! Hopefully he will start being more useful after this.
