Moving on to the Season 5 draft which consisted of 5 rounds but 4 of the 8 teams passed in the final round. A total of 35 people were drafted into the VHL in the Season 5 Entry Draft. Let's get started with the Avangard Havoc.

Round 1, Pick 3: Right Wing McLovin

Career Reg. Season Stats: 507 GP | 157 G | 303 A | 460 P

Career Playoff Stats: 31 GP | 5 G | 26 A | 31 P

With the 3rd pick in the Season 5 draft, the Havoc announced they were taking the man with one name, McLovin. He went on to play 507 games, scoring 157 goals and assisting on 303 goals for 460 points. He played in 31 playoff games, scoring 5 goals and assisting on 26 goals for 31 points. I am fairly certain that he switched to defense later in his career because that would explain the low goal total for a winger. He won a Continental Cup in Season 7 with the Havoc. 1st overall, 2nd overall and 4th overall all got inducted to the Hall of Fame but 3rd overall McLovin did not. That doesn't mean he was a bust.

Round 1, Pick 6 (via Hamilton): Goaltender Greg Eagles

Career Reg Season Stats: 250 GP | 102 W | 113 L | 17 OTL | 0.923 SV% | 3.17 G.A.A | 5 SO | 0 A

Career Playoff Stats: N/A

The Avangard Havoc came up with the 6th overall pick as well after a trade with the Hamilton Canucksl and took goaltender Greg Eagles. He was a very decent player in his time with a record of 102-113-17 in 250 games. He had a 0.923 save percentage and a 3.17 G.A.A with 5 shutouts. He did not play in a playoff game though so that was unfortunate as you can tell by his losing record but good save percentage that he was probably playing on some bad teams throughout his career.

Round 1, Pick 8 (via Calgary, via Vasteras, via Seattle): Defenseman Luciano Marjamaki

Career Reg. Season Stats: 288 GP | 24 G | 91 A | 115 P

Career Playoff Stats: 6 GP | 0 G | 0 A | 0 P

With the 8th and last pick of the 1st round, via Calgary, via Vasteras and via Seattle, Avangard took defenseman Luciano Marjamaki. Marjamaki went on to have a typical depth defenseman career. He played in 288 games, scoring 24 goals and assisting on 91 goals for 115 points. He provided nice depth from the 3/4 spot while not costing a team an arm and a leg. He played in 6 playoff games but had 0 points. Overall a decent player but not a hit.

Round 2, Pick 11: Right Wing Carl Boyce

Career Reg. Season Stats: 146 GP | 14 G | 33 A | 47 P

Career Playoff Stats: N/A

With their first of 4 2nd round picks, Avangard selected Carl Boyce who played in 146 games, scoring 14 goals and assisting on 33 goals for 47 points. He never played a playoff game and was a bust at 11th overall.

Round 2, Pick 13 (via Vasteras): Right Wing Terence Fong

Career Reg. Season Stats: 434 GP | 178 G | 222 P | 400 P

Career Playoff Stats: 35 G | 14 G | 16 A | 30 P

Now we move on to the pick Avangard received via Vasteras at 13th overall. Terence Fong was taken with the pick and he went on to have a very good career with 434 games played, 178 goals and 222 assists for 400 points on the dot. He also played in 35 playoff games, scoring 14 goals and assisting on 16 goals for 30 points. He would win the Continental Cup in Season 7 and Season 10. He wasn't Hall of Fame material but he definitely was a very good player and deserves recognition as such.

Round 2, Pick 14 (via Hamilton): Defenseman Dave Bauer

Career Reg. Season Stats: 72 GP | 5 G | 21 A | 26 P

Career Playoff Stats: N/A

With the very next pick via the Hamilton Canucks, Avangard selected defenseman Dave Bauer. He only played on season in the VHL scoring 5 goals and assisting on 21 goals for 26 points. He never played in a playoff game. Just your run of the mill depth 1 season player.

Round 2, Pick 16 (via Seattle): Defenseman Kyle Campoli

Career Reg. Season Stats: 362 GP | 44 G | 165 A | 209 P

Career Playoff Stats: 4 GP | 0 G | 0 A | 0 P

With the last pick of the 2nd round via Seattle, Avangard selected another defenseman in Kyle Campoli. Campoli had a very decent career considering he was 16th overall. He played in 362 games, scoring 44 goals and assisting on 165 goals for 209 points. He played in just 4 playoff games though with 0 points. He was a solid number 3/4 option for his 5 seasons in the VHL.

Round 3, Pick 24 (via Seattle): Right Wing Tyler Vassel

Career Reg. Season Stats: 288 GP | 86 G | 102 A | 188 P

Career Playoff Stats: 8 GP | 0 G | 2 A | 2 P

Avangard drafted Tyler Vassel with the 24th overall pick via Seattle in the 3rd round. He wound up playing 288 games scoring 86 goals and assisting on 102 goals for 188 games. He was able to get into 8 playoff games with just 2 assists. He lit up the VHLM when it was first set up with back to back 200 point seasons if I remember correctly. Pretty solid depth player at 24th overall.

Round 4, Pick 27: Right Wing Anton Razov

Career Reg. Season Stats: 144 GP | 36 G | 39 A | 75 P

Career Playoff Stats: N/A

With their last pick in the draft, Avangard took winger Anton Razov with the 27th overall pick. He played in 144 games, scoring 36 goals and assisting on 39 goals for 75 points. He never played in the playoffs in his 2 seasons in the VHL. He was their last pick in the draft because Avangard passed on 35th overall. Pretty nice to pick up a player who gets a point every other game with the 27th overall pick.
