Much to the dismay of @Frank we will be finishing up the Season VHL Entry Draft today with everyone's favorite team Vasteras IK. Let's get on with it then. 

 

1st Round, Pick 8: Defenseman Matt Defosse

Career Reg. Season Stats: 546 GP | 343 G | 454 A | 797 P

Career Playoff Stats: 53 GP | 21 G | 37 A | 58 P

 

Matt Defosse had a very great career spanning 546 games, 343 goals and 454 assists for 797 points. The most interesting thing about Defosse is that he switched and played forward in his career after being drafted as a defenseman. Too bad he retired 3 points short of 800. He played in 53 playoff games scoring 21 goals and assisting on 37 goals for 58 points. He was apart of the big trade that sent Scotty Campbell from Vasteras to Seattle. He won a Continental Cup in Season 4 and in Season 6 with the Helsinki Titans. He was a well traveled player to say the least but all that added up to a Hall of Fame induction. 

 

3rd Round, Pick 24: Right Wing Patrick Baker

Career Reg. Season Stats: 72 GP | 7 G | 26 A | 33 P

Career Playoff Stats: 8 GP | 1 G | 5 A | 6 P

 

Vasteras didn't have a 2nd round pick because they traded it to Hamilton so they didn't make another selection until the end of the 3rd round. They selected Right Winger Patrick Baker who only played 1 season scoring 7 goals and assisting on 26 goals for 33 points. He played in 8 playoff games scoring 1 goal and assisting on 5 goals for 6 points which is a pretty decent output. However he was left go after the season.

 

4th Round, Pick 32: Left Wing Alexander Povenofsky

Career Reg. Season Stats: 316 GP | 45 G | 62 A | 107 P

Career Playoff Stats: 20 GP | 4 G | 3 A | 7 P

 

In the 4th round, Vasteras selected Left Winger Alexander Povenofsky. He played in a lot of games for a 4th rounder if we are being honest. He played in 316 games, scoring 45 goals and assisting on 62 goals for 107 points. A pretty decent 3rd line scorer for Vasteras selected 32nd overall. He also played in 20 playoff games scoring 4 goals and assisting on 3 goals for 7 points. He knew his role and he played well in the 3rd line role.

 

5th Round, Pick 40: Left Wing Alexei Fedorov

Career Reg. Season Stats: 72 GP | 14 G | 16 A | 30 P

Career Playoff Stats: N/A

 

With the last pick of the draft, Vasteras selected winger Alexei Fedorov. He played in one season scoring 14 goals and assisted on 16 goals for 30 points. Pretty decent right? That's too bad after this season he was released and went back to Russia to play out his hockey career.

 

Verdict

There was only one and obvious hit for Vasteras and that was Matt Defosse at 8th overall, 2 played less than 1 season and the other was nothing more than a 3rd line player.
