Bratislava In The Market For A Goaltender?

With the trade deadline approaching not just in the VHL but in the VHLM as well, at lot of teams could be looking to improve their roster through trade until Monday. In a very tight race in the European Conference Oslo, Bratislava and Bern have all been playing good hockey and can be considered legitimate contenders. Parity has also been high in the North American Conference, were Saskatoon and Minot have been looking good so far while Yukon and Brampton are still in a tight playoff race. All these teams could be looking to buy at the deadline, but there targets might be very different. While some franchises might be looking to add depth or that one player that gives them the starpower they lack, the Bratislava Watchmen have been in a different situation.

The Watchmen have both starpower and depth, but what they are lacking is a reliable goaltender. The management had already tried to address that earlier in the season by acquiring Soren Douffet, but so far Douffet has been a huge disappointment. Coming fresh off a cup win with the Ottawa Lynx, Douffet still seems to be hung over from the party and his 0.873 Save Percentage is among the leagues worst. While the Watchmen usually don't allow a lot of shots, Douffet still manages to give up 3 or more goals more often than he should and the goalie hit a new low just recently when the Watchmen outshot the Yukon Rush 29-14, but still lost after Douffet gave up 5 goals on those 14 shots. If the Watchmen want to be the prime contender everyone thought they would be at the beginning of the year, they'll need better, more steady goaltending in the last third of the season. Will they trust Douffet to provide that while they simply overpower the opposition with their offensive firepower like Ottawa did last year? Or will the Bratislava management look for a new goaltender at the deadline. We'll get an answer soon...
