More Than Just "Haroidberg" - Defense Shining For Watchmen

Sachimo Zoidberg and Oskars Harumpf have been the story of the season so far for the Bratislava Watchmen. The two forwards have combined for almost 200 points in just 40 games and are second and third in VHLM scoring, only behind Bern's Jody 3 Moons. But behind these two exceptional players there is a whole other storyline for the Watchmen, and that is the great play of the team's defensive unit. While Harumpf and Zoidberg have combined for half the team's goals, it's the blueliners who have been providing the depth scoring for Bratislava. Despite the fact that Bratislava has lots of good forwards in Suberman, Gifford Shock and Mario de Rossi, the places three to six in team scoring are all occupied by defensemen! Nicolas Caprivi leads the Watchmen's defensive top-4 with 48 points, but he is followed closely by Danny Schneider and Wesley Matthews (43 and 42 points) as well as Ed Grrr, who sits at 33 points.

On top of that this defensive group also possesses a good variety of skill-sets, Danny Schneider is the best defensive defenseman with 125 hits and 81 shots blocked while Wesley Matthews has concentrated more on the offensive side of the game and is second on the team in goals scored with 17. While Matthews has been providing the firepower from the back end, Nicolas Caprivi has played more of a puck distributing role and his 40 assists also are good for second on the Watchmen. With Soren Douffet still struggling in goal, look forward to the defense being a key factor for the Watchmen in the second half of the season!
