  1. Welcome to yet another edition of Future Watch! I’m Head Scout Matty Ice. I’ve taken over my fellow contributor (Patrik Tallinder)’s series, and I went in another direction. Quotes from every VHL GM sure add to the depth of the article and it has been such a pleasure to deal with all of them. Thank you VHL GMs for taking the time! Let’s get right to it! CALGARY WRANGLERS Calgary was already a young team entering their prime, but with some roster movement and TWELVE selections in the s74 draft, they now have a very deep pool of prospects. Among those selected on Calgary’s roster, Luke Thornton and Jonas Stormsson have big shoes to fill. Three VHLM prospects stand out, namely Las Vegas Aces’ Gary Rush, Miami’s Eoin Byrne and Mississauga goaltender Vsevolod Akarov. Quote from GM Ryan Jubis: Calgary had only one prospect before the S74 draft. Gary Rush, who’s a great prospect that’s close to moving up to the VHL, chose to play one more season in the VHLM. After a few trades before and during the draft, Calgary ended up with 12 picks. Two of those picks are already playing in the VHL this season and making an impact. 2 more prospects will make the jump next season. Calgary now has a plethora of prospect goalies. As the GM I saw value in having other goalies in the system behind Lafontaine. As these goalies grow and continue to mature if the opportunity is not here for them, I will not hold any of these players hostage. If they wish to look for full-time roles I will be here to help them accomplish that. If one of them wants to work their way into VHL backup for a season. We can do that as well. Overall I am very happy to have such a stacked prospect pool. The Wranglers' future is bright. With tons of prospect depth and only two selections without a contract, they have many future assets that they can rely on to either trade for a missing piece or graduate into the Calgary system Top Prospects: Luke Thornton, Gary Rush, Jonas Stormsson, Eoin Byrne, Vsevolod Askarov Prospect Grade: A- @Jubis @Jtv123 @G_Rush @Kyle @LatinViking @Gooningitup CHICAGO PHOENIX This young team fresh off their inaugural season, had seven draft selections in S74. VHL rookies Christian Mingle and Lee Xin headline this prospect pool at the center and winger positions respectively. Virtually all prospects have a shot at graduating into the Phoenix lineup at some point. Winger Kasey Tamm playing for Halifax has the greatest chance of playing for the team next season, with goalie Kloxified eyeing the backup goaltender role and players like Roseann Petal and Darius Marimoto filling in depth roles. Quote from General Manager Jeff Dee: We had the second overall selection at the S74 Draft. We had some big moves to make to further the development of the team. At second overall we grabbed Christian Mingle, who I think could have very easily gone first overall. He has immediately slotted in on the big squad and has been having a good season so far. Lee Xin has been amazing so far and has not only been performing very well on the ice but is a great locker room presence. At 21st overall we managed to grab Kasey Tamm who I believe has the potential to be a star in the VHL. He is spending this season developing with the Halifax 21st this season but we have big plans for him going forward from next year. Kloxified is also spending this season developing with the Yukon Rush, whom he also played for last season in the VHLM. He should make the hop to the VHL next year where he will likely start as a backup to JP Camus. After Kloxified we managed to select the player I think may end up being the steal of the S74 draft and that is Darius Marimoto. Marimoto immediately hopped into our locker room after being selected and is now running our team's social media accounts. He is constantly in the practice facility and I believe he will quickly become a well known player around the league. While he is spending this season in the VHLM, I fully expect him in the VHL next season. Last and certainly not least is Yuuto Kira Cloudera who is a defenseman currently enjoying their second season with Minnesota in the VHLM and who I think can have a solid career moving forward. Top Prospects: Christian Mingle, Lee Xin, Kasey Tamm, Matty Socks Prospect Grade: A- @Quik @Blazzer @kesytamm @fishy @solas @dariusmarimotoman @kentakira @JeffD D.C. DRAGONS This aging team will have many positions to fill by Season 76’s end. Having had three selections in the S74 draft, two prospects stand out. Ottawa Lynx defenseman Jackson Philliefan and Yukon Rush centerman Alec Andreshnikov eye open spots in the near future. Defenseman Rick Osman is considered to be a more long-term project that may fill a depth role someday. Quote from General Manager Eno Rama: I'm hoping that as long as we have Wolski in net, we'll be able to field a competitive roster. As our core ages out, we should be able to replenish it through trades and drafting and while our pipeline isn't full of blue chip talent right now, I'm confident they can be solid complementary pieces on a cup-winning roster. The aging Dragons blue line will be in dire need for skilled defensemen to replace the retiring Lance Flowers, Luciano Valentino and Ricky Johnson to keep up with the rest of the league. Hopefully their drafted defensemen can step up and maintain the Dragons' compete level. Top Prospects: Jackson Philliefan, Alec Andreshnikov Prospect Grade: B- @Enorama @Philliefan @PuckPushers @dylanjj37 HC DAVOS DYNAMO This is still a very young team with a deep, but porous prospect pool. They have no real immediate need to replace any player at any position, besides newly-acquired free agent and legendary goaltender Rayz Funk, who will be retiring at Season 74’s end. With Joakim Bruden next in line to be Davos’ starter, there are no depth issues with the Dynamo. Many of their prospects have gone inactive and/or are without a team or contract. Two prospects of note are D-man Shawty Nananana and winger Vlad Imir, playing for Halifax and Yukon respectively. Their development has been steady and on pace to hit the VHL ranks as soon as next season. Quote from General Manager Jerry Garcia: Davos is still a fairly young team, but we've got the prospects to keep us going for some time in the future. The eventual replacement for one of our S69 defenders is Shawty Nananana, a second-round pick this season who will be up in S75 after one season down. One of last season's thirds, Vlad Imir, is also set to make the jump, and I'm hoping he'll keep up the earning and fulfill his current projection as a long-term second-line player. On top of that, two guys I'm really excited about are Jim Allen and Piero Angela, fourth-round selections this season who are active and have the ability to make it up in a season or two. Top Prospects: Shawty Nananana, Vlad Imir Prospect Grade: C @Grape @Big Dee @jimmyallen93 @Minermonkey @GustavMattias HELSINKI TITANS Having selected four defensemen in the S74 draft and all active defensemen having ending contracts at the end of the season, Helsinki has a deep enough pool of defensemen to fill their shoes if they want to. Two defenders from Halifax, Gabriel Akerstrom and Kate Upton, come to mind when having options at the blue line. Las Vegas defender Chase Crosby can be a surprise selection if he continues to remain active. S73 draftees Patrik Laine and Oh Sens have made their rookie debuts in support roles, but may move up to top line roles if their development continues. Quote from General Manager Juliann Borwinn: The S74 VHL entry draft held just over a week ago saw many promising players find new homes in the VHL. Helsinki's playbook was quickly realized by onlookers as they took to the podium announcing only defenseman in their draft positions. With a plethora of forwards and young goaltenders to shore up the future, the Titans looked at their depth chart and focused solely on what was needed for seasons to come. While having a strong defensive core, Helsinki had no D prospects to speak of and hoped to have addressed their future needs. While still early, Gabriel Akerstrom looks poised to make the jump next season, while Upton and Crosby continue to excel in the VHLM. Buckfast has yet to report but the Titans are hopeful he will make a return. Top Prospects: Gabriel Akerstrom, Patrik Laine, Oh Sens Prospect Grade: B+ @Jubo07 @osens @PatrikLaine @Mason @OscarTheSwagDude @AnthonyOuellet LONDON UNITED The young franchise definitely used their three first round selections to pick top-quality prospects in Ryan Schwarz and Julian Nousiainen, who have made their rookie debuts alongside s73 draftee Alec Volchenkov and have kept pace without much extra effort. Their third first rounder, defenseman Kasper Kankkunen, elected to remain in the VHLM’s Las Vegas Aces for one more season for some refinement to his game, despite the glaring hole at the defense position. Goaltender Kevin Malone is also poised to challenge for the United’s starting goalie role, with forward Maxim Yakolevsky and defenseman Tee Pee E II being considered longer-term projects. Quote from General Manager Roger McWolf: We only had two seasons to build our prospect pool, but I'm proud of the players we got. Malone and Kankkunen are the highlights (of the recent draftees still playing in the VHLM). They're set to start with us next season, and they'll bring much needed support at our two weakest positions. Top Prospects: Ryan Schwarz, Julian Nousiainen, Kasper Kankkunen, Kevin Malone Prospect Grade: A @McWolf @Enorama @okochastar @ZP16 @chatfan036 @Goliathus @Nepto @SirRupertBarnes LOS ANGELES STARS Los Angeles loaded up on prospects in the S73 entry draft. Having had only two picks in the S74 Draft, both making their rookie debuts with the big club, defenseman Lester Green and Doug Dimmadome are both quality players. These two players alone have the potential to completely transform the defense and puck-stopping ability into an impregnable fortress down the road. The only worthy player still in the VHLM is Las Vegas Aces goaltender Drew Minott. Quote from General Manager Josh Da Silva: Coming up in the defense pipeline we have Gumballs, Green, and Keef and all three are in their rookie season. I see Gumballs and Green manning the first pairing for the next few seasons. They're playing well together and are both strong defensive players. Keef's development is going to take a little longer but I believe he'll be an impact player in a couple of seasons. Lastly but certainly not least, Doug Dimmadome, owner of the Dimmsdale Dimmadome, is our rookie goaltender this season. The best player available to us in the draft and shaping up to be one of the best starting goalies in the league. Hoping he stays with us long term with that guaranteed starter spot. Nearly all of their draft selections are VHL caliber players, however their prospect pipeline at skating positions is seriously lacking. Top Prospects: Lester Green, Doug Dimmadome, Jiggly Gumballs Prospect Grade: B+ @Josh @JigglyGumballs @Esso2264 @DreMin15 @Smarch @RStar MALMO NIGHTHAWKS This is still quite a young team. Having only one selection from the S74 draft class, Philadelphia Reapers winger Carson Walkers, they don’t really have any urgent need to fill their pipeline. With superstar defenseman Condor Adrienne retiring at the end of Season 75, there could be a gaping hole at defense. Perhaps in the next draft they select a star defenseman? With s73 defenseman Kirishima Wakaro making his rookie start, it fills the gap for now. Quote from General Manager John Frostbeard: Well, we have two players that are still playing in VHLM, Kevin Sterk and Carson Walkers. I think we are in a good spot considering that we already have a team ready to compete. That said, I strongly believe that any team should always have extra players ready to come up as that adds extra value to the overall team composition. Also, more people means that your LR is active and chatty. For now, Malmo’s prospect pool is severely lacking, but without a need at this current period, I don’t think it really matters. Top Prospect: Carson Walkers Prospect Grade: C- @FrostBeard @Snussu @Cwalker @TenZi MOSCOW MENACE Another young team to discuss here. With only two selections in the past draft, Moscow has enough depth to address any need. Season 74 draftees Alex Zouzouambe at wing and defenseman Breeze Ladrian joined Fat Palloon and Michael Hall to round out their prospect pipeline. With goaltender Raymond Bernard retiring at the end of season 75, Moscow should perhaps look to draft their replacement goalie in the upcoming draft. Quote from General Manager Victor Alfredsson: Our youth movement is coming to an end as most of our recent draftees have graduated but I'm happy to have 3 more exciting prospects in the pipeline, all of whom I believe will have a role to play in Moscow in the future. I suspect Palloon and Zouzouambe will be ready to step up to the VHL next season, just in time to replace some retirees both up front and on defence. Ladrian is a more long-term project but I'm hopeful he will follow in the tradition of other Moscow steals like Clarke, Telker, and Angellini and make an impact for us soon. Top Prospects: Fat Palloon, Michael Hall, Alex Zouzouambe Prospect Grade: B @Victor @BigZouzou @Kelsier @UnkemptCL4PTP @Hops NEW YORK AMERICANS This aging team, starved for a proper rebuild, drafted very well at all positions in the past two drafts. With five retiring players at this season’s end, 1st round selection Markus Schauer began his rookie season at defense. Rounding out the prospect pool, Saskatoon teammates centerman Brian Strong Jr, goalie Cal Conway and defenseman Gabriel Johnson provide necessary depth and possibly front-runners to fill key positions next season. Aces centerman Rhynex Entertainment is developing quite nicely and could compete for a depth role. Quote from General Manager Esso Drunkmann: I think our prospect pool is really good. We have a bunch of them that came up this year and they are all great. Only thing I ask of them is to keep developing and have some fun around the team we're building. Top Prospects: Markus Schauer, Brian Strong Jr, Rhynex Entertainment, Cal Conway Prospect Grade: A- @Esso2264 @Plate @Wheaties @Rhynex Entertainment @Shaka @GeckoeyGecko PRAGUE PHANTOMS With two selections in the s74 draft, they selected John LeClair II and The Blob to round out their prospect pool. Although most of their prospects have turned out to be longer-term projects, they may have some diamonds in the rough. The team managed to strike gold late in the draft three times in the S73 draft, and obtained 3 of the 5 remaining active players past 46th overall. And it isn’t as if these are players to write off either; Secel Keller, Theodore James St Louis, and Zachariah Kisslinger regularly find themselves earning 6 to 10 TPE per week, and could be valuable assets on Prague’s roster in no time. The team will be experiencing some turnover in the next two or three seasons, so they have some time to address those needs through the draft if they chose to. One of the biggest question marks is Andre LeBastard, who hasn't performed up to 1st round caliber. He may be the big bust of the s73 draft. Quote from General Manager Jason Glasser While the prospect pool would have looked a lot better a season ago, before Dan Baillie Jr, Riley Knight Gee, and Andre Lebastard all graduated to the bigs, it's still a solid group of players, especially taking into account the limited number of picks we've had in order to get to this. 6 guys in the prospect pool, all at least somewhat active, and not a single one drafted earlier than 32. The Blob and Kisslinger will likely be ready to come up to the team next season, and ultimately I expect all of them to eventually contribute to the Phantoms on some level. Top Prospects: John LeClair II, Dan Baillie Jr Prospect Grade: B @diamond_ace @flyersfan1453 @wcats @KnightRiley @Andre LeBastard @JorgTheGoat03 @xsjack @Nick Kirkpatrick @Kisslinger RIGA REIGN This championship-caliber team will have massive holes to fill after the retirements of legendary defenseman Lincoln Tate and star forward Phil Marleau. Having selected twice in the S74 draft, they selected Jeffrenomitsu The 3rd and defenseman Matt Thunder. Jeffrenomitsu has made his Riga debut, while Thunder remains a longer-term prospect. S72 draftee Bobby Wyman seems right on the cusp of being a VHL player, however his development is still a question mark. Quote from General Manager Benjamin Zeptenbergs Our two prospects are gonna help to bolster our defensive core in the future. Our current D lineup is slowly running thin with Tate retiring following this season and both Sasakamoose and Clarke hitting another regression. So we will need help there. Good thing is we have two prospects with different mindset - Wyman as physical and shooting-first threat and Thunder as more of an all-arounder. I'm also glad we could pick them with later picks, it's always great to find a steal, since this also satisfies our positional needs. Top Prospects: Jeffrenomitsu The 3rd, Bobby Wyman Prospect Grade: B- @hedgehog337 @Jeffie43 @Lefty_S @Matt thunder SEATTLE BEARS Fresh off their fourth cup win in six seasons, Seattle still managed to keep a prospect pipeline to build a team to continue winning Continental Cups. First round selection Isabella Campbell headlines the ranks by joining Seattle right out of the draft. Defenseman Lucifer Olivier Leveque and centerman Leo Strauss round out the high caliber prospect pool. They remain in the VHLM this season to fine tune their games and look to join Seattle in the near future. Quote from General Manager Blake Campbell: I think right now Seattle has a pretty healthy and successful prospect pool. The fact that we’ve been winning with the same powerful core, or most of them, that we’ve had since S67 up to this off-season was super special. (Hulk) Hogan and Berocka (Sundqvist) are retiring at the season's end and all these players are going to jump in nicely to continue on the Bears legacy of incredible skill when it comes to the blue line for the last many seasons. I think these players mixing in with Odin Omdahl are going to continue to help Seattle find ways to contend for playoffs and the cup. Even though he is still very young, committed to himself and the Bears and a very good member/player in the league that others would love to have. This draft, we managed to come out very well. Overall, I think Seattle has done a good enough job that if we wanted to, we could continue to contend, make playoffs and keep the cupboards stored for seasons to come. As the seasons go on it may become a little more challenging but I think instead of challenging, just always on your toes and keeping your mind and eyes open. Moving forward, though, I feel like we’ve checked enough positional boxes to keep Seattle alive. Clearly, Blake Campbell is passionate about his Bears, and centerwoman/daughter Isabella finally making it to the big show. Top Prospects: Isabella Campbell, Lucifer Olivier Leveque, Rocket, Leo Strauss Prospect Grade: B+ @Banackock @InstantRockstar @Rocket @gregreg TORONTO LEGION With all the previous prospects having moved up to Toronto’s starting lineup and all inactives released, they used their two selections in the draft to pick two quality players. Aces winger Nicholas Sunderbruch and Halifax centerman Wolf Weiss are quality prospects that may move up to the VHL ranks as early as next season, provided they continue their development. Sunderbruch in particular has taken a big step forward in his development since the start of September, even capping out in a nice 24 TPE effort in the week of 9/20. He is definitely one to keep your eye on in the future. Besides these two prospects, Toronto’s pipeline is literally empty. They should address this need in future drafts. Quote from General Manager Rylan Peace: Currently, Toronto has holes all over the roster, and both of the Legions' prospects can help fill them when they make the jump to the VHL at the conclusion of their VHLM career. They can jump in and provide immediate stability while the Legion continues to look for ways to improve, and give us an opportunity to continue developing into a championship team. Matmenzinger's (player agent for Wolf Weiss) previous player was a staple for Moscow, so we know he's a reliable individual to bank some of our faith in. Nick Sunderbruch is a first generation player, but I'm impressed at his growth and I have no issues putting my faith in him as well; and of course I had two prospects graduate to the VHL this season, but Ziarie Anigbogu should be included on this list, so I add him here as someone who's been a reliable earner and will challenge for a top four role as soon as next season. Top Prospects: Nicholas Sunderbruch, Wolf Weiss Prospect Grade: C+ @Peace @Matmenzinger @NickSunderbruch @ngine4 VANCOUVER WOLVES This team has a very deep prospect pool. With six draftees from the s74 entry draft, they used their three, high first round selections to pick stars-in-the-making; center Venus Thightrap, winger Onde Sandstrom and defensewoman Emi Rune. They have all made their rookie debuts this season and will form the next core that is the Vancouver Wolves. With many prospects still playing in the VHLM, one notable player is centerwoman Riley Couture. She is very close to being VHL ready, but will remain with the Halifax 21st until next season. Other draftees include forwards Florent Vericel and Jeff Odinson, with Markus Emerson Jr playing goalie for Mexico City. These players are considered to be longer-term projects for the organization, as they have remained in the VHLM to develop their game before being called up. Take note of Emerson Jr, he has been developing at a rapid pace and may end up being an absolute steal of a pick from the 4th round. Him capping out in both of the last two weeks in which he put up a respective 40 and 24 TPE is remarkable, and undoubtedly a path that will lead him to much success at the VHL level. Quote from General Manager Keaton Louth: I feel like we really addressed all our team needs at the draft. Our team was at a crossroads where we have some great older talent and a couple prospects that were making the jump this season. We were heading up to the draft with lots of picks but only a few higher picks. I made it my goal to get as high as possible to get the game-breaking talent I knew was there without sacrificing anything of note. We were also able to grab a couple players that will make the team in the next few seasons which will help us once the older players retire. Top Prospects: Venus Thightrap, Onde Sandstrom, Emi Rune, Riley Couture, Jeff Odinson, Florent Vericel Prospect Grade: A+ @Beaviss @BladeMaiden @fonziGG @Emi @Riley_Couture @dart @GoldGear88 @Xflexz WARSAW PREDATORS The young franchise really stacked up their pipeline with the conclusion of the S74 draft. Three of their picks have already moved up to the VHL club, joining Arthur Dayne, Jeremy Lin, Victor Grachev and Dakota Lamb. With a total of seven rookies on the roster, the recent draftees integrate very well into the already young team. First overall selection Aloe Dear frontlines the prospect class. Fellow winger Lexi Glass and defenseman Tim Waters have proven that they were worthy to make that jump alongside Dear, and will be part of Warsaw’s core moving forward. Winger Chris Reynolds isn’t far behind on the depth chart. He needs to continue developing with a stacked Las Vegas Aces roster behind him. Quote from General Manager Damien Walec: Chris Reynolds has been working really hard since we selected him, and we're excited about his future. He's on a strong trajectory and should rank among the top prospects in the league. Angel Wachiure has been a steady and strong prospect for us, one that we really felt we got a great value with him. He's played well for Las Vegas so far this season, and we're excited to see what he can contribute for us in the future. Nathaniel N is a strong young prospect for our defensive core. We're willing to be patient with his development as we feel it'll pay off strong dividends in the future for us. Clearly, no comment was made on the S74 rookies, because they are already solid, which goes without needing any comment. Top Prospects: Aloe Dear, Lexi Glass, Tim Waters, Chris Reynolds, Dakota Lamb, Victor Grachev Prospect Grade: A+ @.sniffuM @Renomitsu @Siddhus @Crstats23 @dlamb @KaleebtheMighty @inflastud @AW13 @NathanN Word Count (excluding GM quotes) : 1800 somewhere around there I want to extend a special thank you to Patrick Tallinder. Thank you for your contribution, help and guidance. It means a lot to me and the VHL
  2. Well another week has gone past and another week has brought us a few things to talk about. Sid Crosby joins the ranks this time as he declared eligible for the VHL draft. We did have to look twice to see the relation, but apparently his name and connection to hockey is just a coincidence. Not a lot of movement this week but a shoutout to Pavel Ovechkin who climbed six positions this week to get into mid-second round territory. Goaltender Jakab Holik did himself a favour and stayed at the gym for twenty hours this past week, something scouts are sure to notice. Overall a very slow week and we urge VHLM General Managers to get to work in grooming these guys, as well as putting the effort into posting links in their Locker-rooms. @sterling, @Banackock, @Daniel, @atw2592, @StevenStamkos91, @BluesBoy71, @JardyB10, @Ahma
  3. Alright so the official word to describe this draft class is, Boring. Besides a few of the prospects who actually seem to care, there are a lot who don't even know they still exist. That doesn't bode well for any VHL General Manager who loaded up on draft picks for this draft. Despite that we still have to give you the roundup and tell you what each one of these prospects weight is in terms of potential. This week we saw John Sleeman assure us of his dominance with a productive week at the gym. A few prospects were movers in the positive direction this week, maybe none bigger than Felipe Rodriguez claiming into that lottery position at the #4 spot. David Hamilton is nowhere to be seen and it's hurting his draft stock more than anyone. Here is a breakdown of each payers major statistics so far this season! CENTERS RIGHT WING LEFT WING DEFENSEMAN GOALTENDERS
  4. Welcome back to the VHLSC rankings! We have to admit that this week was slow and it seems only a handful of prospects care. Not only that, we lost a prospect who apparently had a birthdate mix-up with the VHL office and will enter next years draft. Thus we are stuck with the 16 prospects we have right now and it will be a very small and short draft upcoming. The good news? Well this just means we get to focus on these prospects more and give you some further back stories. Let's get to the roundup before we find out more dirty secrets about our prospects. This week saw Mikhail Gribov rising above all prospects and logging some solid hours in the practice arena. Gribov finished the week with an astounding 16 hours in the gym. That also meant that he was our biggest mover as he jumped six spots into the first round conversation. The young Russian looks to jump next week as well and show these prospects he has what it takes to enter lottery area. John Sleeman continued his first place position with a pedestrian type week. Vincent Adultman had a productive week and he sees himself climb higher on our boards!
  5. Well this draft adds one more player to it's total as we near the trade deadline and hopefully he isn't the lats to join the shuffle! This week we saw some movement as well as some progression from some of our young draft hopefuls. We are nearing the two round mark, which is a bonus for General Managers who once saw this draft as one round only a few weeks ago. Luckily some new bodies have been added and the crop looks to be in better shape. We'd still love for more prospects so if you are reading this go recruit a buddy, on a forum or on a community post on Facebook or Craigslist! This week we saw another monster week from Felipe Rodriguez who is quickly turning more heads than fans at a formula one race track. Rodriguez was our top earner this week, but surprisingly that didn't bump him up any spots in the rankings as the title of top mover goes elsewhere. Vincent Adultman had a slow week, but did benefit from his closest competition failing to show up to practice at all. David Hamilton had a solid week by floating up to the third spot on the rankings. Newcomer Kendrick Cole came in and bounced his way into the first round conversation right away. All this talk and movement allows for great reactions though, so why not pull our favourite tweets and status' from social media!
  6. Welcome back everyone! Last week we got our first glimpse at our VHL potential draftees for the next VHL Entry Draft in Season 47. This week we get to dive into the positional breakdown of all the players combined. Many times a draft can be defined by many things, one of those can be the high volume at a given position. This year we don't really have a runaway leader in positions, but we have some balance to our spots. Luckily this week we gained FOUR new draftees vying for the #1 spot! Here is your weekly roundup before we dive into the positions: Felipe Rodriguez made the biggest gain of the week by stuffing himself inside the practice facility for 26 hours this past week! You'll notice the movement column doesn't show any activity, but that is strictly because it is early and we figured we'd start that next week. Otherwise, you would probably see Felipe Rodriguez win the movement competition for this week as well. Sadly we are left with two prospects who haven't even claimed the free 30 TPE upon joining, something the recruiters are solely responsible for. Enough talk though, let's get the show started!
  7. Well hello everybody! A new forum upgrade also brings us a new VHLSC rankings chart. After we took a week off last week to allow for maximize earning ability and exposure, we are back to bring you another exciting edition of the VHLSC Draft Prospects Rankings! This past two weeks some of our prospects were wracking up the most amount of practice hours they could in the gym and on the ice. This brought for a lot of movement in our rankings and a bit of extra news to add to our storylines. This weeks theme at the end of the roundup is "Who Are These Guys?" as we turned to some scouts and hockey analysts for their opinion on some of the potential VHL draftees. Let's get you caught up with the roundup though! First thing we notice is a lot of movement as well as a huge effort by most of the prospects vying for a first round selection. This draft now has twelves prospects that have reached the century mark on their practice hours logs. That is a huge number considering at draft time last year, we only have 9 draftees to eclipse that same plateau. Not only did those twelve prospects get past that mark, we could see another four join the cool group. Before we give you a rundown we should mention that we know Jonathan Killeen should be higher than Jon Panik on our lists, but it does remain to be seen whether this past week was abnormal or a new trend of activity. The top earner this week (or two weeks) goes to Niels Skovsgard who had a huge couple weeks and pushed himself into first round conversation. Niels wasn't the biggest mover though, as that title belongs to Benjamin Tumack, who despite not being in that century club, is making it hard to think he won't eventually make it there in time. As always it is good to see Gregory Fallum and Cooper Supernaw making a jump in the middle of our rankings, both these goalies have a shot at greatness in the VHL with some help. Let's ask the scouts how they see some of these prospects!
  8. Well hello there fellow draft prospect interested readers! Another week has gone by another couple storylines to add to our already loaded list for this years draft class. We gained another couple of draft prospects for this draft this past week, which pushes our total to thirty-six players! Another goalie joins the fold in Cooper Supernaw who has come out on fire it seems. Gregory Fallum looks intriguing considering his late inclusion in this draft class as well. A lot of movement at the bottom of our board, but that's mostly because of the new players declaring going ham in their first week on the list. Around this time of the year we start to see players take themselves out of conversation for lottery picks. We also see players tailing off and not attending the practice facility as much (more on that later). Saul Hackett was our top earner this week and he is making a case to be the second best prospect and possibly a first overall contender if position is a need. LeAndre St. Pierre continues to impress us as he is our top mover as he jumped ahead two spots this past week and inches his way into the first round area of the draft board. Now regarding that whole VHLM Practice Facility comment. It appears our draft picks don't even want to do some of the simple things. VHLSC has been harping on this from week one and it is apparent that some prospects might be confused or have no knowledge of this area at all. It's basically a roll call like you would in school to gain 1 TPE right off the bat. VHLM GM's should be on their players to be doing this week after week. Would it not be a welcoming sight to see every prospect on the list earning a minimum 3 TPE per week (Welfare + VHLM Practice Facility)? This would be magical and so much cooler for the VHL teams. Then again who reads these rankings anymore anyways? Her is how to earn TPE draftees!
  9. Bonjour everyone! Welcome back to another edition of the VHLSC's Draft Rankings. Last week we introduced to you a new crop of youngin's vying to be the next first overall pick in the VHL Entry Draft. There can only be one obviously, but there can also be more than one winner in the draft. Whether that winner is any of the dozens of prospects, a VHL franchise or even a prospect eclipsing a personal goal. This week's edition sheds light on which prospects might make their respective VHLM squad a winner. We look at the prospects featured on each VHLM team this season and what sort of impact they may have on that team. First though, we figured we'd give you this week's roundup and updates. It will be pretty tough for the prospects to top this weeks production and movement. Only four prospects stayed in the spot they were ranked in last weeks rankings. Speaking of the number four, we gained four new prospects this week. This draft may gave us three full rounds after all and that is a win for everyone. Kol Mikaelson might want to avoid buying an apartment anytime soon, the amount of time he spent in the gym this week was insane. Kol was the biggest earner this week and in turn was also the biggest mover as he arose five spots to lottery contention. Jordan Maverick and Niels Skovsgard also made strides this week and both were able to stay consistent after week one. Time to find out what team these all-stars are featured on. The Brampton Blades features three of our prospects on their re-vamped roster. The freshly billed Zach Voss made our list and Brampton has big things in mind for their high-flying winger. Lottery calibre players are far from the norm in Brampton, which makes Saul Hackett swimming in very chartered territory in the Canadian city. Daryn Petersenn is a bit of an unknown but the management team in Brampton might attempt at sparking the young defensemen soon. It would be a shame to see only two of the three make it big time, but Brampton does have a solid history of turning players into stars. Player to Watch: Zach Voss Ottawa has been off and on in their history as a VHLM franchise. However, some big names have been groomed in the Canadian capital before. With only two of this years prospects on their current roster, they seem to be relying on an older core group. Despite that, Thomas Andersson has been getting a good look on the Lynx. The young winger is hoping to feed off another prospects from this years draft class. Aidan Rozel is hoping to make a name for himself as well in the VHLM. If Ottawa wants long-term success they need to develop these two young men. Player to Watch: Thomas Andersson Travelling to Yukon can be a tough journey for most teams, which might be one of the reasons they are a successful franchise. However, as they kick out an old manager to replace him with a new voice they also take on some new players. Brandon Lapham Jr. is a second generation player who grew up watching his dad play primarily in Riga with the Reign. Lapham Jr. gets the honour of suiting up in the navy and gold to hone his skills. Joining him is Lars Siktanc is a fresh face to the league, and hopefully a face that becomes a household image. Siktanc may need some help adjusting to the league, but he does look like a solid player from the get-go. Player to Watch: Lars Siktanc We mentioned above the growth of Niels Skovsgard, but he isn't the only prospect making noise in Saskatoon. The prairie team features three young prospects on their 45th campaign roster. Niels Skovsgard leads the pack with his amazing skill set on the wing. Early unsung hero award may go to Jonathan Killeen who won the fans over by live tweeting the draft from his Samsung Galaxy (*product placement*). Killeen has been making noise with his mobile and his amazing skating ability on the ice. We are hoping these two prospects can help the third in Kenny Keeley who looks to have the build to make a VHL roster right now. Keeley's adjustment may be the X-Factor with this squad. Player to Watch: Jonathan Killeen Bern has had a ton of success in the VHLM, so much that you'd think they might get promoted to the VHL (that's not a thing though). Part of that reason is because they groom their players properly and constructively. This year the feature a team that only has one player from an earlier draft class. That means if you are scouting players, a trip to the Swiss city is not a half bad idea. Leading the way is Zach Parechkin who is the early first overall candidate. Kol Mikaelson made noise this week, and soon will make noise on the ice as well. Jeff Hamilton is a brand new prospect, but an excellent pedigree for a VHLM player. Jayden Fasth is an unknown with huge upside alongside players like Jon Panik, Benjamin Tumack and Jordan Maverick. Sean Blacker's uncle played in the VHL, so did Mathieu Baptiste. If the kids can get the ball rolling they might be an early Founder's Cup favourite. Player to Watch: Kol Mikaelson The Storm's people go through in Oslo are mostly ones they experience when watching their local hockey team. Oslo (like many franchises) has a great history of turning young players into VHL stars. This year is no different as they may get the chance to groom three young prospects. Olivia Diamond is a new prospect to our board and we'll see if she can stick with the boys. It's a rarity to find a female in the VHLM/VHL, as the only other current female is Jamie Hill on the Calgary Wranglers. Freddy Schultz and Stumppell Aurinkoinen Jr. are the other two prospects rounding this squad out. So far we have seen little for each of them though. Player to Watch: Olivia Diamond In their short history in the VHLM, Bratislava has gone on to win and then win some more. This franchise is blessed and must have a hand to hand contact with the man above or something. This year Manhole Siegfried will get their sole attention as the only prospects under their roster. It could get exciting if the young player rises from a team featuring none of his peers. Player to Watch: Manhole Siegfried Moscow is the team still trying to find an identity. They have been riddled but poor management in the past and are hoping that that changes with new management. If they can turn it around they might be helping the seven prospects they are attending to this season. Shawn Muller is the big name they feature but they also have the pleasure of grooming players like Bitch Higgins and World B. Free. Pete Stockton joins the mix as well, which could spark the team having the new addition. Pierre-Luc Lefrancois, Lucas Villa and LeAndre St.Pierre are three prospects to keep a close eye on with their amazing skillets. Player to Watch: Lucas Villa *VHLM GM's Note: Please be on your players about claiming the VHLM Practice Facility and writing VHL Fan articles. These two things go a long way in to getting prospects their max TPE per week. Also if you haven't please PM a blue team member for an email or someway of trying to spark a prospect at the end of these rankings. If you aren't doing enough, I am one of the people who sees that right away.
  10. Behold, the famous VHLSC Twitter Reactions have been scoped and picked out by the VHLSC brass. Welcome everyone to another edition of the VHLSC Draft Rankings. Last season we saw the social media world take off a bit more in regards to the Victory Hockey League. This year it increased as the fanatics and hockey fans alike voiced their opinions on the popular social media giant "Twitter". Fans from all over the world and many walks of life chimed in with their thought process leading up to the VHL Entry Draft. Before we get to those sloppy and poorly designed tweets we do have to give you your weekly roundup of productions and analysis. This week we saw another somewhat slow week in the rankings. It is often around this time where many of the rankings and players fall into shape and somewhat cement their position at a certain ranking. Sadly though we are seeing a very poor trend; one in which we always hope to avoid. Although we saw some of our draftees attend practice and enhance their skills, some of the once highly touted prospects have been slacking off. Greg Clegane must have booked a vacation during the regular season schedule because we haven't heard from him in a while. It also appears as though Marquis Hyvarinen is heavily invested in his knitting club or something, because we haven't seen him around a gym in quite awhile. We'll tell you who has been around a gym lately, Ariel Weinstein who is our biggest earner this week. Phil Hamilton and Sandro Clegane are hot on his tail this week, but come up just a bit short of the Jewish prince. Ryan Price and Maxime Deschamps both tie for the biggest movers of the week. Deschamps might as well invest in a cube van with all the moving he has done the past few weeks.
  11. Welcome back to another edition of the VHLSC Draft Rankings! Before we go further we realize the title of this article is spelled incorrectly. That was somewhat done on purpose as Fandemonium is the proper way to do it but as you'll learn in this article, spelling things the right way is far from cool. This week was pretty exciting we'd say! Tons of movement and tons of surprising prospects making their name well known. This weeks edition is about Nicknames and what the fans like to call players. A nickname can make or break your reputation in professional sports. Whether you are "The Big Hurt" or "Finnish Flash", there is a place for your nickname in this edition. A special shoutout to one of the best nicknames in professional sports "The Big Ticket" given to Kevin Garnett. First though let's do our weekly roundup. Biggest mover this week was a combo of players in Jace Hines, Ryan Price and Maxime Deschamps. All three jumped several spots to reach a higher rankings level. Our biggest practice participant was Evgeny Nezhmetdinov who spent 20 hours in the gym this week. That's it folks, we bring on the billboards!
  12. Hello everyone! After our trip around the world last week to find out where every prospect originated from, we are back to give you another exciting edition of the VHLSC Draft Rankings! This week we sat down with the draftees and asked them a simple question. When youngsters and fans get the chance to actually ask a pro hockey player or (pro athlete for that matter) a question, they often bring up the one we asked our potential draftees. You base your game on winning and do as much as possible to put yourself in that position. However we want to know who they looked up to and idolized as a young kid in hockey. First though we need our breakdown! This week was exciting. We lost Max Molholt as he signed a deal with the Toronto Legion on a GM's exempt list signee. It happens very rarely in our league but it easily is transitioned around. However, we do gain a draftee in Teuvo Rinne who is another goaltender added to our large collection of goaltenders. The biggest earner this week was Tanner Hynes who went out and logged 23 hours in the training facilities. In doing so he sparked a few GM's interests along the way. Tanner and Bobby Boucher both share the lead for climbing as they both jumped three spots from their last weeks rankings. Various prospects dropped and climbed along the way. The #1 spot is now Phil Hamilton's spot where he intends to keep the crowd below him exactly in that state. On to the good stuff though!
  13. Woah, woah, woah! Don't blink folks we are up to 31 prospects now! Welcome back to another edition of the VHLSC Draft Rankings and analysis. Another week in the books which means another week closer to the 45th VHL Entry Draft. TPE battles are in full effect right now and various other criteria funnels the prospects into different categories. Before we break this week down we will explain this weeks theme and general information. This week we will take a look at each prospects native land and give you a little graphically assisted know-how on what country made who. This year VHLSC added the farthest column to the right on our draft rankings. It is more of a column for curiosities sake than it does actually affect the prospects place in the rankings. After all practice hours are the #1 contributor to the end rankings and mock drafts. The "Nationality" column allows us to view where are top prospects are from. So we thought for pure excitement levels and no more, that we would dive into their countries and find where these youngsters turn up from. However, first we wouldn't be doing our job if we didn't give you this weeks run down. Those 31 prospects we spoke about earlier got up to that number thanks to a few new ones in our rankings. Lucas Zhukenov, Ethan Henderson, Geoff Reid and Super Cock all declared for the VHL Entry Draft. All four of them seem to be on the right path so far as well; having already logged practice hours for development. Our biggest earner this week was goaltender Ryan Price who had an impressive week to say the least. With that impressive week he also became the top prospect to move up in our rankings as he now has reached the 16th position in the rankings. The biggest drop this week was from young M. Nocturne Shamalamalamalon who continues to be missing in action. Keeping with the theme, United States was the country who earned the most amount of practice hours this week. We look forward to next week when more prospects turn it up and maybe more declare! Now onto the meat and potatoes of the rankings; the Geography Lesson! It is no secret Canada turns in some of the best talent in the world. Some of the prospects who are middle of the pack make up our Canadian contingent this season. Here is to hoping they can live up to the beaver loving, maple syrup guzzling country they originate from. Aww yes the land of the free and home of the Atlanta Braves (or something like that). The United States is a powerhouse in the hockey world, much like it's neighbour to the north. This year they feature some prospects also in the middle of the pack and looking to climb. Will the United States feature better prospects than it's 49th parallel lab partner? Well taking a trip around the globe and outside of the North American continent we get a mix of a whole bunch of countries and prospects. Denmark has produced professional ice hockey players before, looks like they are right on course to continue that. Ireland is home of the Leprechauns and Robbie Keane who is currently doing time in Los Angeles (MLS is prison). However they do have two prospects looking to live in Owen Nolan's NHL path. Japan has a pro ice hockey league and does have many claiming to be from there play in professional leagues outside of it as well. This year the current top prospect calls a little Japanese island home during the summer. Over to the land of banks and a country which has a 3 Musketeers motto. Switzerland features a top goalie prospect with a real interesting hometown which is outside the box (or in). Alright at this point we hope we remembered to purchase travellers insurance but after visiting that town in Switzerland, all hope might be lost. Stopping in England, it has never been a huge hockey hotbed but the Victory Hockey League is becoming ever more familiar with the country who gave the world Wayne Rooney. This year they got three prospects filling our board and looking to cause "Aggro" for others. Scandinavia is a massive area of the world and produces nice things like IKEA, hockey players and snipers that Russia can't stand. Usually you'd see way more prospects from this area but having three is good enough for us. For factual purposes we have to mention that Finland don't consider themselves Scandinavian from what we are told, Denmark do though. Also, I have a goldfish but no one really cares about that either. Moving down a notch we hit the Netherlands where they can't seem to make their shoes correctly and Austin Powers is the only movie to get their accent correctly. In the past we have had some Dutch players filter through our drafts, this year we see yet another one. Getting out before we are way too high, we head over to an area where Putin owns everyone. Russia features one of our newest prospects, Kazakhstan features one of our brightest prospects and Ukraine features a prospect which end up being Russian anyways. Our final plane ride takes us on quite the journey. First stop is the land of Oktoberfest and Bratwurst where even if you are 5 years old, you know your beers. One of our newest prospects calls "Deutschland" home during the off-season. Because we don't believe in making life easier, we head over to Israel to check out one of the highest rated goaltender on our list. Before we leave though a man stops and offers us five hollywood blockbuster pirated movies for only five Shekel's (exchange rate that yourself). Last stop on our magical journey is South Korea, the one without Kim Jong-un. We have a lesser known prospect from there who doesn't seem to know the VHL kept going and didn't go for two weeks. *All jokes in this rankings were provided by the worst humour in the world and Wayne Rooney's wife.
  14. Weooooow! Welcome back everyone to another exclusive VHLSC Draft Rankings list and analysis. What a week it has been in the VHL and the VHLM alongside a busy week in draft declarations. This week we were blessed to have 6 brand new draftees declare and become draft eligible next off-season. Not only that it seems there is a new player in almost every position because of that. VHLSC itself went out on a recruitment drive to see if they could pull some prospects in and it worked! This weeks movement was heavy and it made for an exciting ranking. Our top TPE earner this week was right winger Max Molholt who out earned his draft class and even moved up a spot in the rankings. Greg Clegane was the biggest positive mover this week as he took sole possession of the first spot in the rankings. We'd like to welcome Ryan Price, Kane Hamilton, Mikael Lagerkvist, Filip Lundqvist, Jace Hines and Lucas Galeano to the rankings. Some of them have already made huge strides in development and climbed the charts. Now for the biggest part of this rankings; the topic this week is "Player Builds". It is a very tricky thing if you can build a certain type of player and see what development course they take. Many times it can be the difference to the puck going in your net or you filling the opponents net with pucks. Take a look at this years draft classes player builds and what you may see at the VHL level very soon!
  15. Hello everyone! Welcome (back) to the Victory Hockey League Scouting Center's draft rankings and analysis. Last season's draftees are well on their way to VHL clubs at this stage in currently in team training camp to prove their worth right off the bat. That means it's a farewell of those young prospects and a hello to our new draft eligible prospects for this seasons 45th VHL Entry Draft! If you are joining us for the first time and have never seen these draft rankings take place, I want to let you know these are completely honest draft rankings based off what each prospect has shown week to week. They are largely above effected by practice hours said prospect has logged for their given VHLM team during the season. During the course of the year you'll see interactive segments and other statistically based articles that will factor in various other prospect facts. So if are still with me here, sit back and enjoy the Season 45 draft prospects and we'll introduce to them now! First and foremost before you dissect the draft board you'll notice we included a nationality column for anyone who likes to see who hails from what nation. That column is more about look than it is about rankings prospects and it doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things. Taking a look at our board we see a big name on top which seems to have "franchise player" written all over himself. That name is Biggu Kyanon who is already tearing up the draft board as a young stud defenseman. Kyanon has the ability to break many pre-draft record at his current pace and so far is pencilled in at the #1 draft spot. Directly behind him is another young defensemen in Phil Hamilton. The English haven't produced many professional hockey players by the means of the draft, however Phil Hamilton is no ordinary Brit. Hamilton is hot on the heels of Kyanon and the two may battle it out for that #1 draft spot. Don't blink though because another draftee has rounded out that three horse race and he plays at a more sought after position. Greg Clegane is behind the two defenseman but his goaltending position puts him at par or above with the other two because of the goaltending need around the VHL. Another goaltender has come along for the ride this year, which was something we missed last year (Corey Marino and a late Lenny Face). Ariel Weinstein is used to putting his body on the line in net, hailing all the way from Israel. Weinstein isn't quite at the level of the other three already mentioned prospects, but he does have some quality traits that VHL teams will look at. Shortly behind Weinstein comes Max Molholt to the fray, which now sees a very positive first five selections if the draft was held today. Molholt is the first right winger listed on our draft rankings and has a boom or bust feel to him. Dropping out of the top five will still net a team a very solid prospect in the form of goaltender Sandro Clegane. Sandro is aforementioned Greg Clegane's brother but it appears the separation in talent between the two has already surfaced early. Anyone who would be selecting seventh would be in for a pretty good treat. Marquis Hyvarinen is brother's to last years prospect Kekko Hyvarinen. Marquis however is the more talkative one with a great hairdo; he also has some solid skills and is on pace to overlap his brother in the gym. Every year there is a certain amount of hype surrounding first generation talent and this year we are blessed. Eighth on our list is young Kazakhstan winger Evgeny Nezhmetdinov who has already shown up to practice big time and is putting on a display. Evgeny is said to have super speed and amazing dangles in the offensive zone. Moving down to the ninth position is another honour of ours as we get to introduce another first generation talent. Wesley Babiy (translated from Ukraine) is another player we are high on because of his initial production. Babiy has shown that he can compete as our top player at the center position and we will be keeping a close eye on him in the future. Moving down our tenth ranked prospect and proposed first round conclusion we find Bubba Nuck. Nuck is a Vancouver boy with a passion for the game and has shown a great initiative thus far. Nuck is another defensemen joining the flood of them in our rankings. Matt Johnson has turned some heads as well early in our draft rankings. Johnson is a Canadian born player who is the top ranked left wingers on the board and also a first generation talent. Maxime Wright comes in at the twelfth position on our list and believe it or not is not a first general talent. Wright also joins the defensemen crop that will see this draft as more about limiting goals than going out to get them. Lee Sang-Hyeok would like to erase that previous sentence as he is hoping to be one of the few South Korean success stories in hockey. Sang-Hyeok is a left winger as well and hopes to provide a scoring touch as a first generation talent. Directly behind him comes Tanner Hynes who is an American born defensemen (and first American on this list). Hynes has an uphill battle but all sigs are saying he is a good find for any team. At the fifteenth position we find Michael Burch who is the second of two England born players in this draft. Of course like the previous Brit, this one is also a defensemen vying for a top spot. Following Burch comes Matt Gatsby who apparently might have a relation to the famous Leo DiCaprio character in film. Matt is a right winger and not yet a billionaire, but given the tools he has he might make it there with his hockey skills. A late edition to our draft pool was Azor Ahai who has so far showed up for training camp and doesn't look to shabby. Ahai is another left winger who is looking to compete with the rest of the young potential stars at his respected position. At the eighteenth position we find the Waterboy himself, Bobby Boucher representing centermen. Boucher has actually come around lately and we expect him to climb for next weeks rankings. The last three prospects have been somewhat missing from both training and team functions. Benjamin Bellamont, M. Nocturne Shamalamalamalon and Danger Van der Merwe have all entered the draft process with paperwork but we haven't been able to scout them thus far. if their General Managers and teammates could include them and get them practicing that would be a major difference this draft has over the previous one. I hope everyone enjoyed getting to know who our prospects are this year and what type of draft we can expect from them. I would hope everyone has healthy competition and helps out the younger of the prospects to be just as good as the veterans. Of course if any prospect has questions or ponders how to do anything in our league, my inbox is always open and I usually reply fairly fast. If you need a quick answer just fire up the ol' chat machine and launch your question into the VHLSC universe. Happy TPE earning and make sure to check out all the TPE eligible areas for you including the VHL & VHLM Fantasy Zones coming soon!
  16. Well hello there hearty rankings viewers and people who got lost while looking for Bob McKenzie's NHL rankings. Today we bring you another episode of the VHL Entry Draft Rankings for the 43rd VHL Entry Draft. Last week we got to see insight into which teams are favoured and sought after by prospects who have declared. We saw some surprises and some obvious answers by our prospects. Well little did you know they were also asked about what General Manager has sparked their interest and led them to progress. It's really hard to for some of the prospects to judge a General Manager at first, but we do have to rely on their first impressions of them. Before we do get those opinions though we do have a duty to give you this weeks round up! For another consecutive week it appears one of our top prospects has gone missing. Edwin Reencarnacion remains at the top of our rankings but his closest competitor Kerkko Hyvarinen has fallen off a cliff or something. Le'Sean Coutzen hasn't fallen off anything, unless that thing is the underperforming train car. Coutzen rises this week to the #6 spot which is a personal high for the young centreman. Giovanni Reuel also rose to a new personal high at the #8 position. Not to be outdone, Archie Wagner climbed two spots to the #12 spot which puts him in first round area going forward. If anyone sees Kerkko Hyvarinen tell him to not hype himself up before practices he doesn't attend. Before you go to tell him that, go have fun looking at the infographic below!
  17. Well welcome back to another edition of the VHLSC's draft rankings board! Last week we got to take a look at all the prospects and where they stand within their position. Many top prospects are battling it out for the top spot but are in a different position and could be valued differently. This week we get to see where our prospects want to play or what team has jumped out at them currently for a possible future career location. Now the prospect may have made up their mind because of friends on the team, logo, colours of the jerseys and yes who has contacted them yet. Keep in mind many of our prospects come into our league with a fresh perspective and choosing a team right out of the gate may say a lot about what image that team portrays through the media. Before we jump into that little infographic we of course bring you the weekly roundup! This week we got another new prospect who declared for our season ending entry draft. Archie Wagner joins the fold and instantly pops up our rankings into the number 14 spot. The young defensemen has come on hot out of the gate and could find himself in the top ten very soon. Not a whole lot of movement this week other than Wagner pushing five prospects down the chart. Bratislava Watchmen centerman Alexander Davidson passes last weeks fresh face Giovanni Reuel. Kerkko Hyvarinen has gone missing once again and his presence in this draft board might be slipping. However, you want the meat of this article so here it is:
  18. Well welcome back all you faithful readers and potential VHL draftees. This week we were blessed to have three new prospects declare themselves eligible for the 44th VHL Entry Draft. We are inching closer to having two full rounds of draft picks and that would definitely put the VHL General managers minds at rest for a bit. Just to give you some information, if we can not fill two rounds and further more three rounds, those draft picks vanish and a team is not compensated those selections in a later draft. Luckily newcomers Giovanni Reuel, Ash Stevens and Kyle Keenan allow those selections to come true even further. Your weekly roundup this week sees a lot of moment just like last week. Despite the low number of prospects, the constant movement is a great thing as it shows that our limited prospects are competing each week. Edwin Reencarnacion remains our top prospect once again and obviously won't be giving up that title anytime soon; or at all. However, we have a new #2 on the rankings in the form of young Finnish defensemen Kekko Hyvarienen. Not only did Kekko climb to the second position, he holds a good lead over third place prospect Simon Valmount. How about those newcomers though? Giovanni Reuel came onto the scene last week and has immediately made a huge impact on our rankings. Giovanni climbed the charts right away and currently sits in the first round area at number nine. Ash Stevens climbed a bit and asserted herself middle of the second round landscape. I should mention this is my first ever chance to cover a girl on these rankings and I hope she kicks the snot out of the other prospects. We are still holding out hope for Corey Marino and think he could be a steal somehow, we hope. This week we decided to give you an inside look at the positions in this draft and the numbers they add up too in relation to past drafts. Keep in mind the numbers of past drafts are the finishing numbers so this years totals could rise a bit as well. That Season 40 prospects total was insane considering this years small number. *Bolded number indicates year with highest number at a specific position After looking at the infographic above you immediately notice that the Season 40 VHL Entry Draft re-stocked the cupboards of any team with draft picks. The graphic shows an eight year period which is the maximum length of a VHL Career. What we first notice is that this season has the lowest number in multiple categories but surprisingly, not all categories. The right wingers and centers in this years draft are a sliver above the number in which we saw in Season 38 and Season 37 respectively. We mentioned Corey Marino earlier, he is the only goaltender in the 44th VHL Draft class and our only hope to save that glorified position. Last year saw the most defensemen declared to an entry draft in the past 8 seasons, which might be why this years number is very low. Although the three defensemen this year is a low count, they all might potential be gems in this class. Our right wingers this year look promising as potential is there for them to all come out of this as solid players, even some franchise players. Simon Valmount has exceeded what some peoples expectations for a first generation player are already. Whatever our right wingers bring, our enters bring just as much in this class. Jefferson Jackson, Maxime Perron and La'Sean Coutzen are all on pace to become VHL regulars with scoring touches. The VHL is a very interactive league and it shows. I say this because we do not demand or encourage members to create a certain "need" of a position all the time. We may suggest it because of the lack of prospects at a certain position, but it is never forced upon them. Some may say this puts the league at a disadvantage because then needs may never fill up. However, the opportunity for a franchise or player to change their position is one that can plug those gaps and also create an interesting trading market. This years draftees (and every year for that matter) are encouraged to strictly go out have fun, earn as much TPE as possible and enjoy the STHS program. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Here is your statistic of the day: 10. There are ten first-generation prospects who have declared for this draft. Not only that, four of those prospects are currently in a position to go in the first round based on TPE totals. That's all from VHLSC this week! Draftees make sure to stop by the VHL & VHLM Fantasy Zones to enter to win some free uncapped TPE and juice your player! Also don't forget to post in the VHLM Practice Facility each week for 1 uncapped TPE! Not to be outdone, but also if you are a first generation player and haven't done so yet, please go claim 10 Free TPE in the VHLM Training Camp that the VHLM's offers! Also if you read this whole article and want that draftee number to increase, pop on over to this url and upvote/comment to increase our chances! Take the 2 minutes to do so and it will benefit the entire league! Reddit Link
  19. Well hello there faithful writers and various VHL General Managers from around the VHL as well as the vHLM. Welcome back to another edition of the VHL Scouting Centres rankings and analysis. This week we have a full slate of things to discuss, critique as well as shed light on. Last week we had the pleasure of introducing the young fourteen draftees who have declared eligible for next years VHL Entry Draft. This week as we know them a tiny bit more we also were able to increase the draft class (albeit by only one draftee). However, we celebrate the little victories here at VHLSC and adding our new draftee Xavier Kirkland to the fold is great news! We just hope that number increases every week from here on out. Let's get right to what you want to know and less of what you don't. This week only one prospects didn't move in our rankings, which is by far the most movement a ranking chart has had since VHLSC was founded. Our biggest mover this week was Marcel Faux who was able to climb to the second spot on the draft rankings. Faux is a left winger for the Saskatoon Wild and has been steadily increasing his production week by week. Our biggest faller in the rankings is young R Truth who didn't show up to practice this week. Jury is still out on whether R Truth will fit the mould of a VHL or even an everyday VHLM player. The young right winger also calls Saskatoon Wild but it is clear he isn't following Marcel Faux around in the weight room. Our biggest TPE earner is none other than Le'Sean Coutzen. Coutzen was one of the later draft prospects to declare eligible, but he has been making noise as a centerman ever since. Edwin Reencarnacion remains our #1 prospect and it doesn't look like he will be losing that title soon. This week's special player profile is a very interesting one. We get to hear from the players themselves as to what style they play and who they compare themselves too. Take a look! That's all from VHLSC this week! Draftees make sure to stop by the VHL & VHLM Fantasy Zones to enter to win some free uncapped TPE and juice your player! 20. Hello everyone and welcome back to the VHLSC Draft Rankings! Another busy week has come and gone and it seems our rankings shuffle even more every week we issue a new board. The back half of the board hasn't changed much considering some of those prospects are missing in action. The top half of our board is constantly fluctuating as you can see by the lottery positions above. Pablo Escabar has risen the charts quite quickly and has shown he is a great lottery selection come draft day. Casper Solomon had risen very quickly as well after debuting just a couple weeks ago. Erik Hedman has been steadily climbing the board since his inclusion two weeks prior to this ranking. Michael Clardy, Bronson Faux and Chuck Goody continue to hurt their draft stock will poor showings in the past couple rankings. Biggest news coming this week was our declaration cut-off deadline being announced. Prospects will be allowed to declare for this draft if they want, but they only have a week to do so before all new prospects are officially declared for the Season 44 VHL Entry Draft. This weeks theme is VHLM teams and where these prospects are currently honing their hockey skills. It's no secret these prospects may have come from CHL programs in various locations across Canada and the United States. These VHLM teams give them the ability to adapt to the VHL style of play as well as the business in which it operates. The VHLM has been a part of the Victory Hockey League system for over 40 years and has been in and out of affiliations with VHL parent clubs. So to set the right story on all teams we now present to you a breakdown of this years draft class and their respected VHLM team. Brampton has been a long standing team in the VHLM's history. This year they are loaded with prospects that are on our rankings and thus are available to be drafted in this upcoming entry draft. E'Twaun Delicious makes up a solid forward group combined with Bronson Faux and newcomer Casper Solomon. Golden Jedtsson and Franklin Romanowski form a lethal duo that have looked stellar thus far. Larry Esposito rounds out the prospects that play for this Canadian powerhouse. Ottawa boasts the Lynx in their large city, and they couldn't be happier. The team currently has nine prospects in this draft which is cut above the rest of the VHLM teams. Led by their leaders on the blueline, Pablo Escabar and Francis York Morgan form a formidable duo. Thomas Duddy, Souryuu Kaminogi and Jorma Ruutu headline the forward crop who are very productive on both ends of the ice. Zachary Young and Kewl Runnins are depth players but provide the team a little jump on their checking lines. Recent draft declarer Roland Rengel and his sidekick Holy the Goalie are both adequate goaltenders for the Lynx. This team has some jump but will need an entire roster to grow with each other to be a threat come playoff time. Saskatoon Wild went through a huge overhaul during the off-season which saw many players graduate to the VHL and some shipped out in trades. The result of that off-season brings us a roster largely dependant fourth line veterans and newcomer Ryan Carlson. Carlson is the bulk of the production and attack for this Wild squad. He isn't the only Season 43 draftee on the squad though. Defensemen Dennis Saad is also another prospect that could find his way from a Wild player to a VHL roster. Yukon is like Saskatoon in the way of their off-season being a total overhaul of players and draft selections. When the dust settled though, the Rush featured two prospects for this upcoming draft. Thor Weinstein mans the point while newcomer Doug Glatt takes his place upon the right side of the forward groups. The Rush really didn't have much to work with in the off-season so carrying these two is a blessing in disguise. The Minot Gladiators have three prospects for this years draft on their current roster. The Gladiators see both sides of the rankings with their players. Hans Wingate is arguably the best goaltender in the draft and he also is the main puckstopper in the Minot lineup. Unfortunately the two teammates he shares this draft with are Screw Mark and John Moretta who are both absent from most of the teams functions. Ultimately though Wingate is the prospects carrying the load on this squad in more ways than one. Bratislava has had some success in the last little bit and it goes to show you that good drafting and knowing which players will succeed under your system is the best formula. This years squad however, they look like a shell of their former self. Largely populated by layovers from last years squad, they actually do feature a prospect in this upcoming draft. Stabby McFullO'Schmidt is the one prospect we talk about, however he has done little to even raise fingers from scouts. Turku seems like they want to continue the trend of teams who fell off since their successful seasons in years past. This year the roster only consists of four players outside of their usual fill ins. One of those players is Kawhk Blawka who has not done a thing to raise his draft stock or assist his team is becoming somewhat relevant this campaign. The Royals out in Bern give us the ability to raise our hopes again about teams who possess draft prospects for this upcoming draft. Josh America frontline a solid forward group for the Royals which also consists of Dan Humphrey. MC Hammer and Chuck Goody are a solid pair of blue liners who strengthen this Swiss squad. Moscow was very active in the off-season and it allowed them to become noticeable again by scouts as well as the peers. Grabbing players like Michael Clardy, Erik Hedman and Josiah Parks helps their bid for a playoff spot. Acquiring Jed Mosley, Santi Pineiro and Not Active has done little to help but they still can claim they are from the same draft class as their previously mentioned teammates. Oslo Storm are a heavy favourite in the VHLM this year because of their veteran leadership and ability to put the puck in the net. Their depth also gives them some hope in the back half of games. Theo Matsikas is a bright spot who comes from this draft class and is high on our draft rankings. His Olso teammates Grady Simons and Marlon Duke also claim to be from the same draft but by their lack of progression, you wouldn't know it. There you have it folks! A quick look at where these prospects play and what their inclusion on their roster actually means towards their teams success and activity. Tune in next week for our latest draft rankings as we get mighty close to knowing some of the draft positions!
  21. Welcome back everyone to the VHLSC's Draft prospects Rankings! Last week we had a fun and insightful look at the origins of our draftees. We specifically looked at prospects hailing from both Canada as well as the United States of America. A trend of American prospects formed and thus this year may have the highest percentage of American born prospects in VHL draft history. That was last week though and this new week brings us a look at prospects from other parts of the world. Some of these prospects come from places completely off the "hockey map" per say. Before we look into the prospects in our world locations, we will give you this weeks draft rankings rundown. This week we gained another new draft eligible prospect, this one however is a little different from the past couple weeks. Casper Solomon joins the draft prospects and immediately climbs the charts to the sixteenth spot on the list. That is quite the feat for someone who just declared and now could be an early second round selection. Theo Matsikas was one of the big earners this week as he almost doubled his entire practice hour total. E'Twaun Delicious also was a big earner, as he gained more practice hours this week than any other prospects who featured on last weeks board. A very sad statistic to report however, nineteen prospects have not even hit the gym once to train or help their VHLM team. Here at the VHLSC we hope to at least change some of that number and this week we will be doing our investigating! Let's get right to the World draft prospect insight and find out where these prospects come from on our maps. Europe often times has a ton of prospects and fills our board with a large number of highly touted ones as well. This year is no different as the massive continent feature fifteen of our 37 total prospects. Theo Matsikas hails from the souvlaki loving nation of Greece. Italy features three prospects which might be the most this country has ever produced into one VHL Entry Draft. If you head west you'll find E'Twaun Delicious eating bread with his wine in the romantic country of France. North of that you find recently declared Roland Rengels patrolling the crease in his Switzerland arena. Austria gives us Thomas Duddy and Not Active to our draft rankings board. Surprisingly enough the Netherlands turns the aforementioned Casper Solomon in with a spot. England and Scotland combine to gives Kewl Runnins, Hans Wingate and MC Hammer. Sweden always turns out a few prospects, this time Erik Hedman and Golden Jedtsson hail from the IKEA nation. Finland shows up with the inclusion of Jorma Ruutu. The entire continent has given us gems over the years and we expect one or more of these to be lottery selections. The rest of the world only features three other prospects to tell you about. When you think of Jamaica you think of Usain Bolt, bobsled teams and tourists never leaving the common trails. Now you may end up thinking about hockey with Kawhk Blawka joining the VHL ranks. Head east and you'll find Thor Weinstein patrolling the blueline from Israel. Last but not least we have Souryuu Kaminogi who is our only Asian prospect in the pool this year from Japan. There you have it folks, those are the locations that these prospects all hail from. Next week we take a look at the prospects and their VHLM teams. We get to find out if their team is as welcoming as Buffalo Sabres goalies are of the puck in their net. Cheers!
