  1. Hello everyone who is still with us! This journey is nearing an end as by the time the VHLSC gets set to write another rankings article, this draft year will have past and the players will go from draft hopefuls to prospects. Don't fret though, we got this one last issue before we hit the big day. Obviously this past couple weeks we have been seeing a ton of VHL Entry Draft Mock Drafts done by various people throughout our community. If you haven't got one done it isn't too late now and you can go create one. However, because of this influx of mock drafts we feel it might be overkill for us at VHLSC to do one this time around. So what did we do instead you ask, well we built the perfect skater and goaltender using the qualities that the current crop of VHL draft hopefuls contain. If you look below we got two different shadows consisting of parts from various different draft eligible players. So enough talking and more graphics! HOCKEY SENSE: Verner Reinholdt @Devise We chose Verner here because his knowledge of the game seems to be the highest of any draft hopeful. Verner possesses a strong sense of intelligence on the ice and also is graced with exceptional know-how in regards to positioning. His passing is second to none and ability to play on special teams and even strength make him valuable. FRAME: Fook Yu @tfong Fook Yu is a solid piece of meat put on skates to wreck havoc. Yu has a large frame with some muscles behind him but also is the king of hitting and going after star players. We don't think Yu will have many friends on the opposing teams. HANDS: Shawn Gretzky @TheLastOlympian07 Gretzky isn't like his relative because he is going into the VHL and not the NHL. Shawn does have some pretty hands though and his ability to dish the puck and also be creative when handling the puck set him apart from his counterparts. SCORING: Takashi Fujimoto @HFD This one might boost his stock a bit more than other player. Fujimoto is being looked at as a player in the second half of the first round. We are here to tell you that he is the best scorer in this draft class and if you want offence, this is the guy you want to select. SKATING: Rudolph Schmeckeldorf @Corco Rudolph the red-nosed speed skater is what he is being hailed as. Schmeckeldorf is the fastest skater in this draft year and if you want a speedy winger with a ton of potential this is your guy. Not to mention Rudolph has been very consistent in the draft rankings and in any other year would be a Top 3 Selection. REACTION TIME: Torstein Ironside @DollarAndADream Torstein Ironside is the fastest goaltender in this draft when it comes to moving laterally in his crease. His ability to stretch across makes him a goaltender who is never truly out of a play regardless of the move put on him. POSITIONING: Vernon Von Axelberry @BobertZ Vernon Von Axelberry might be the third best option at the goaltender position but his positioning is tops in this draft year. His ability to square to the shooter and take away portions of the net that a shooter would normally find right away is superb. GLOVE REFLEXES: Markus King @Kendrick Torstein may have the sharpest head when it comes to stretching across, but Markus King has a glove hand that is just filthy. King will usually do the flashy glove save just to build some momentum for his club when they are hemmed into their own zone. REBOUND CONTROL: Markus King Markus King shows up again but this time it's for his recognition of where to steer the puck upon saving it. This is key so that rebounds aren't tucked home and the blue liners are left shaking their heads. PUCK HANDLING: Torstein Ironside Ironside shows up again and this time it's for his ability to move the puck. Often a forgotten goaltender skill is to be able to move the puck and provide a good outlet pass for your forwards. Ironside showed up on the scoresheet a few times this past seasons.

  2. In an eleventh hour decision which was originally planned for the start of Season 55, the Bern Royals are no more. Bern will be relocating to Las Vegas ahead of Season 54. After much deliberation and discussion between VHLM Commissioners and the GM of the Bern Royals @BobertZ, it was decided that the team name must be relevant to the city of Vegas. Therefore without further ado we present to you the Las Vegas Aces. Hopefully the name is self explanatory, but if not it references gambling specifically cards. Special thanks to @Bushito for the wonderful logos. The Las Vegas Aces will call T-Mobile Arena their home, they will be splitting time with the Golden Knights of the NHL. Las Vegas Aces GM Robbie Zimmers press release "Bern was nice for the one season that i was there but i feel the league needs a exciting market to be in. the VHLM has suffered with boring teams for far too long. Moving to Vegas was the logical move. I plan to bring Vegas a championship this upcoming season and as often as I can from there. VEGAS BABY! VEGAS!". Team Acronym: LV or LVA

  4. The VHL Entry Draft, arguably one of the most exciting times in the VHL, the teams look to add future pieces that will add to championship winning teams. While not all draftees pan out, this draft will be more on the hit side than miss. Without further adieu here is my 100% not correct but not 100% wrong mock draft. 1st Overall: Toronto Legion select Goaltender Markus King @Kendrick S54 (BRM) - 72 GP | 51 W | 16 L | 5 OTL | 0.892 SV% | 1.50 G.A.A | 26 SO | 5 A S54 (BRM) - 10 GP | 6 W | 4 L | 0 OTL | 0.908 SV% | 1.30 G.A.A | 2 SO | 1 A Everyone is talking about DaaD drafting his own goalie because who better than yourself to build around especially in the goaltending position. Well let me tell you who, Markus King would be one of the better players to build around. Sure you can take yourself and then get your own GM player, but then what would be the point of the 2 player rule if you don't experience it fully like it is meant to be. Plus there is no one more reliable than Kendrick when it comes to making top notch quality players. I'm sure Ironside will be a great goaltender but I don't think DaaD is interesting in building with his own two players and wants to experience playing on a different team with one of his two players and since Bo Boeser is the GM player than makes Ironside available. Plus just look at those stats, King had a 51-16-5 record with a 0.892 save percentage and a 1.50 G.A.A. The save percentage isn't that impressive but when you play on a team that allows less than 10 shots a game your save percentage will struggle. He also had an very impressive 26 shutouts. I mean a Kendrick player, you can't go wrong. 2nd Overall: HC Davos Dynamo select Center Shawn Gretzky S54 (SSK/YUK) - 73 GP | 45 G | 42 A | 87 P | +34 | 18 PIM | 120 H | 21 SB | 8 GWG S54 (YUK) - 10 GP | 5 G | 1 A | 6 P | -3 | 2 PIM | 21 H | 1 SB | 2 GWG After listening to the Pajodcast, Advantage said something very interesting. He said that Smarch isn't interesting in drafting a player who does welfare so that leads me to believe that Fook Yu is out of the question at 2nd overall. Fong has always built great welfare players but now with the new update scale it would be harder to have those great welfare players we are so used to seeing from Fong. This would also lead me to believe that Shawn Gretzky or Pablo would be a shoe in for 2nd overall because Davos has no need for a goaltender and I think they want to build from the Center position. However, I am going to rule out Pablo as well because he has been known to do some welfare during his career and isn't a week to week practice person like Gretzky. If you look at the stats they weren't that bad, he scored 45 goals and assisted on 42 goals for 87 points. Not the best you would expect from the VHLM, but he had 42 points in 25 games after the trade to Yukon. In the playoffs he was rather disappointing with 5 goals and 1 assist for 6 points in 10 games. However he was shutdown by the Ottawa defense while they swept their way to a Cup. 3rd Overall: Helsinki Titans select Defenseman Aleksi Federov @Banackock S54 (BRM) - 72 GP | 19 G | 74 A | 93 P | +26 | 32 PIM | 111 H | 143 SH | 57 SB | 4 GWG S54 (BRM) - 10 GP | 2 G | 4 A | 6 P | -1 | 10 PIM | 18 H | 13 SH | 12 SB | 1 GWG Everyone is pegging Higgins to ditch Astrid Moon because of his bad playoff showing and because of character issues. However, I do not see that happening because Moon will only get better right? Sure there almost won't be a better time to upgrade a goalie than now but Higgins believes in the process and will stick by Moon in hopes of Moon taking Helsinki to the promise land. With that being said, Black Velvet is starting to show his age, Shayne Gow has retired so that makes a need of defense. Defenseman in my eyes are almost at a premium nowadays because so little come in via the draft. That means Federov jumps up to 3rd overall but that doesn't mean he isn't one of the top prospects in the draft because he is right up there with the top TPE earners in the draft. Federov had a very strong season in Brampton with 19 goals and 74 assists for 93 points. He had a decent playoff showing with 2 goals and 4 assists for 6 points. He will find it very hard to match these numbers in the VHL but I think in a few years he would be matching them and maybe even surpassing them. Federov has so much potential and I don't think Helsinki can pass on him. 4th Overall: Riga Reign select Goaltender Torstein Ironside @DollarAndADream S54 (SSK/YUK) - 69 GP | 50 W | 16 L | 3 OTL | 0.909 SV% | 1.54 G.A.A | 28 SO | 2 A S54 (YUK) - 10 GP | 4 W | 6 L | 0 OTL | 0.902 SV% | 2.20 G.A.A | 3 SO | 1 A Riga gets their goalie after all but it is not who many think it will be. I have Ironside and King switching places as Riga gets Ironside. Riga will be happy nonetheless with a goalie dropping to them as both are good enough to challenge for 1st overall. Riga fills their biggest need with a goalie of the future and Daad is happy to become the Riga goalie of the future while also getting one with King. Ironside had a very strong season in the VHLM with a record of 50-16-3 with a 0.909 save percentage and a 1.54 G.A.A to go along with a massive 28 shutouts. His playoff showing wasn't as bad as the 4-6 record shows and the 4 game sweep by Ottawa. Ottawa just had more offensive power but Ironside tried his best as his 0.902 save percentage shows. 5th Overall: Quebec City Meute select Hudson Abbott @Bushito S54 (OTT) - 72 GP | 34 G | 78 A | 112 P | +97 | 84 PIM | 112 H | 318 SH | 54 SB | 6 GWG S54 (OTT) - 8 GP | 5 G | 10 A | 15 P | +7 | 4 PIM | 8 H | 36 SH | 8 SB | 0 GWG Frank is such a wildcard, I don't know who he will pick. However, since we are doing a mock I will have to try decipher who he would pick. With the 5th overall selection, I think the Meute will take Hudson Abbott as not bushito is the only other top defensive prospect. As I was saying awhile ago, these defenseman are becoming a rare breed so one with as much potential as Abbott will go in the top 5 picks of the draft. He will form a very nice one two punch with Fabio Jokinen and the defense in Quebec will be set for a long time. Abbott himself had a very fine season in Ottawa scoring 34 goals and assisting on 78 goals for 112 points. That is more points than most of than most of the forwards in this draft class if not all. He also led the Lynx in scoring during the playoffs with 5 goals and 10 assists for 15 points. He leaves the VHL a Founders Cup Champion and will look to do the same in the VHL one day, led his team to a Continental Cup. 6th Overall: Stockholm Vikings select center Fook Yu @tfong S54 (OTT) - 72 GP | 37 G | 82 A | 119 P | +69 | 94 PIM | 317 H | 339 SH | 16 SB | 7 GWG S54 (OTT) - 8 GP | 2 G | 7 A | 9 P | +4 | 10 PIM | 40 H | 31 SH | 3 SB | 1 GWG Fook Yu has had a very good season but for some reason, I don't see him going until 6th overall because of practice reasons. Yes he does practice every week but you can tell it is minimal effort on Yu's part and while that is better than those who don't go at all, when other players are going week after week getting better at maximum effort, you take notice of those players and want them more than those who don't put in 100%. However this is not a knock to Fong as he is a great guy and he brings some great intangibles but some teams needs more than welfare and great intangibles and thus Fong drops to number 6. Stockholm has a number 1 center of the future in Xander Finn but Fook Yu would be a very nice number 2 center especially for a welfare player. He had a very fine season in Ottawa as did pretty much everyone who played there. He scored 37 goals and assisted on 82 goals for 119 points. He was also a point per game in the playoffs with 2 goals and 7 assists for 9 points. Overall, though those numbers won't stay the same once he gets to the VHL, but he should be a nice point per game player once he reaches his prime. 7th Overall: Helsinki Titans select Center Pablo @Pablo S54 (OTT) - 72 GP | 12 G | 59 A | 71 P | +57 | 32 PIM | 118 H | 195 SH | 8 SB | 3 GWG S54 (OTT) - 8 GP | 5 G | 9 A | 14 P | +7 | 6 PIM | 11 H | 27 SH | 4 SB | 0 GWG Helsinki probably thinks they will make out like bandits after this draft after taking Federov at 3 and then having Pablo drop to 7th. Pablo has a very high potential rating, higher than Fook Yu but he also comes with high risk because of the possibility of him not reaching that potential. Pablo would look very nice lining up at 2C but there are some talks about Pablo not staying at center possibly. Whatever he decides, Helsinki will not care because they have two potential steals in the draft. On a side note this is funny because the player agent of Pablo traded 3rd overall to Helsinki then later declares Pablo for the draft after stepping down from the GM spot only to be drafted to Helsinki himself, some would say this was a big plan by Pablo and Higgins. Higgins is that kind of guy so it wouldn't surprise me because he will do whatever it takes to win. Pablo didn't have that great a season coming in just under a point a game with 12 goals and 59 assists for 71 points. He did pick it up for the playoffs though with 5 goals and 9 assists for 14 points. So as you can tell he got better as the season went on possibly and is destined for bigger and better things in the VHL. 8th Overall: Helsinki Titans select Goaltender Vernon Von Axelberry @BobertZ S54 (OSL) - 72 GP | 25 W | 41 L | 6 OTL | 0.906 SV% | 3.09 G.A.A | 10 SO | 2 A S54 (OSL) - 9 GP | 4 W | 4 L | 1 OTL | 0.894 SV% | 3.15 G.A.A | 0 SO | 1 A Here comes wildcard Frank, back up to the podium. With the 5th pick he doesn't want to play around and takes Abbott, but with 8th overall, he takes a 3rd goaltender just for the lulz. Axelberry has shown desire to play in the VHLM next season so that would give him a season to decide which one of the 3 he wants to keep. This would be hilarious if it were to happen and chances are very well it happens because Frank honestly doesn't give a fuck what you think about his actions and I like that about him. Axelberry had a very tough season in Oslo because most of the competing teams had a goaltender which meant Axelberry has to spend a season with Oslo who was no where near close to competing. He had a record of 25-41-6 with a 0.906 save percentage and a 3.09 G.A.A with 10 shutouts. He also lead the Storm to a series win and had a playoff record of 4-4-1 with a 0.894 save percentage and a 3.15 G.A.A. Overall this would be hilarious like I said and there are very high chances it happens. 9th Overall: New York Americans select Left Wing Rudolf Schmeckeldorf @Corco S54 (SSK/YUK) - 72 GP | 16 G | 53 A | 69 P | +43 | 28 PIM | 118 H | 199 SH | 8 SB | 6 GWG S54 (YUK) - 10 GP | 1 G | 8 A | 9 P | -3 | 0 PIM | 6 H | 8 SH | 0 SB | 0 GWG New York would be ecstatic to have a player of this caliber drop to 9th overall. He is a top end draft talent but falls to 9th because this turns out to be one of the deepest drafts in recent memory *remember when @Pablo said he didn't see much in this draft* NYA basically takes BPA and that is Schmeck despite the GM's other player being available because the potential of Schmeck is pretty big if you as me. Schmeck has a pretty decent season with 16 goals and 53 assists for 69 points. He really picked it up in the playoffs leading the Yukon Rush with 1 goal and 8 assists for 9 poitns in 10 games. He would be a welcome addition to a somewhat aging team. 10th Overall: Calgary Wranglers select Right Wing Takshi Fujimoto @HFD S54 (OTT) - 72 GP | 16 G | 37 A | 53 P | +79 | 38 PIM | 89 H | 193 SH | 0 SB | 3 GWG S54 (OTT) - 8 GP | 4 G | 4 A | 8 P | +9 | 6 PIM | 7 H | 27 SH | 0 SB | 2 GWG With the last pick in the 1st round, the Wranglers get a gift of Fujimoto because it is not often players this close to the VHL 175 + 25 banked cap fall to 10th overall. He is a first gen I believe but he might not be never know. He kicks off the Calgary rebuild 2.0 after brovy gave away 3rd overall. Fujimoto though is a nice piece and will be one to watch now and in the future. Fujimoto played on a very strong Ottawa team so points were hard to come by as he only scored 16 goals and assisted on 37 for 53 points. Although, that isn't a bad total it isn't that high in the VHLM. He picked it up in the playoffs though with 4 goals and 4 assists for 8 points. He too will enter the VHL at some point this season as a VHLM Founders Cup Champion.

  5. For future reference if you're going to have Devise and Jericho at different volumes make Jericho quieter and Devise louder. I'm not sure how I feel being raped in the ears for an hour by Jericho so I could hear Devise whisper.

  7. 1. Toronto Legion - Markus King @Kendrick In this mock draft the best player in the draft goes first overall. Call it a hunch or a recent conversation with Toronto GM @DollarAndADream but I suspect the Legion locker room would be awful lonely with 2 players from the same member. After signing center prospect Bo Boeser it only makes sense that with the lack of goalies in Season 55 that they take the best goalie available here. 2. Davos Dynamo - Pablo @Pablo This pick is a little more interesting. There have been rumors that @Smarch doesn't want any welfare players so given Brovy's track record with point tasks as well as being a long time updater I believe Smarch will see the most potential of all the forwards with Brovy as he has shown to be the most consistent over his career on the VHL in his activity. 3. Helsinki Titans - Fook Yu @tfong Helsinki's pretty much set at center ice with Franchise Cornerstone but the Titans won't pass up the best player available. Tfong is as much as a sure thing as you can get at the VHL draft though he may claim welfare in his career he is still a safe bet to hit that coveted 800 TPE mark as shown with his previous players. Helsinki will have one of the strongest one two punches in the league down the road. 4. Riga Reign - Torstein Ironside @DollarAndADream @hedgehog337 is pleasantly surprised that Ironside falls to him after many predicted he would go to Toronto. Riga is just entering a rebuild and need help at every position. DollarandADream is probably the player of the highest character in this draft. So I don't think the fact he is a GM player scares Riga. Riga will be set in net for seasons to come and can focus on more pressing needs and moving out older assets. 5. Quebec City Meute - Takashi Fujimoto @HFD Though Quebec already has a first line winger in John Locke, there's a mcnugget promise that must be upheld. Quebec realizes they need to help out Fabio Jokinen on defense but assume their will be opportunities either later in the draft or down the road via trade. Frank considered one of the more unorthodox GM's in the league, surprises no one here. 6. Stockholm Vikings - Shawn Gretzky @TheLastOlympian07 @Advantage and Stockholm much like Helsinki run up to the podium to make this selection. Shawn Gretzky is gaining ground on Fook Yu to be the best forward in the draft. Although TheLastOlympian doesn't have as steady a track record as Tfong, he has had his fair share of dips in activity in the past. Stockholm doesn't pass on the potential of a number one center in the middle of the first round. Stockholm replaces TheLastOlympians former player Shawn Muller with the current Shawn Gretzky. 7. Helsinki Titans - Hudson Abbott @Bushito Helsinki needs defense so the fact that Abbott fell this far shows the depth of this 1st round. Though they currently have arguably the best defenseman in the VHL in Black Velvet, he is entering depreciation. So they will need to replace him and with the way Bushito is earning TPE I doubt he will be disappointing whoever selects him. He could be the second highest TPE earner in this draft when it's all said and done (I don't think anyone passes Kendrick). The fact there's a number one defenseman available at 7th overall probably ends up giving @Higgins a heart attack. Also @Da Trifecta breathes a sigh of relief he's still the goalie of the future. 8. Quebec City Meute - Vernon Von Axelberry @BobertZ Speaking of goalies Quebec actually manages to surprise everyone. With Quebec already touting Apollo Skye as the starter and Edwin Endcarnacion it's probably time to bring in a third string. Quebec is looking to break records, why have two 400+ tpe goalies when you can have 3? Some people will assume this pick isn't serious, especially Robbie who is hoping to fall out of the 1st round. Much like @Salt thought he would fall out of the 1st round of Season 52. Quebec's gonna turn some heads just you watch. 9. New York Americans - Aleksei Federov @Banackock Those who know me (Frank) know that I don't value GM's second players as I don't see the motivation to make other team's players better. So if you had Quebec taking any GM player at 5th or 8th in your mocks, I've got bad news for ya. Although Federov is the best defenseman in the draft he drops to number 9 which despite what some may think is not as easy a pick for New York. As Banackock is GM of Seattle and this is his player, how active will he be once he goes to New York and starts beating on his old team. But I believe @Devise goes with the best player available despite the possibilities of free agency down the road. New York is in win now mode and Federov even if only around for 3 seasons will help them immensely. 10. Calgary Wranglers - Jon Snow @ChiefNoka4 @eaglesfan036 likes to go against the grain and I can't see him selecting rival GM Devise. Jon Snow has shown a ton of promise the past month and could easily be the surprise of the draft. For Gaudette.

  8. Yukon forward Rudolph Schmeckeldorf passes whilst being pursued by Ottawa defenseman Hudson Abbott YUKON, Canada - After leading his team in scoring during the S53 VHLM Founders Cup playoffs with 1 goal and 8 assists in 10 games, Swiss-born Yukon Rush winger Rudolph Schmeckeldorf is setting his sights on the S54 VHL draft. As of right now, eight of the ten teams in the VHL have picks in the first round, the exceptions being the Cologne Express and Seattle Bears. Up until now, Schmeckeldorf has bee relatively quiet on where his preferred VHL destinations are, but after this article, that will change. Schmeckeldorf's player agent Thomas Corcoran released this list of Schmeckeldorf's preferred destinations for his career this morning: 1. Helsinki Titans (Up and coming young team that seems like a good fit) 2. New York Americans (Very good chance to win now and in the future, plus playing in the Big Apple is a plus) 3. HC Davos Dynamo (Chance to be a big part of rebuilding team in home country) 4. Toronto Legion (New GM means new chance to help bring the Legion back to the top of the league) 5. Stockholm Vikings (Whatever past transgressions agent has had with franchise appear to be solved) 6. Calgary Wranglers (Agent has never had a player play for Calgary before; would be open to it) 7. Seattle Bears (Team trajectory doesn't exactly seem to match up with Schmeckeldorf's career path) 8. Riga Reign (Don't exactly want to not play for Riga, but I don't necessarily want to play there either) 9. Cologne Express (Like the color scheme, but have played there before and would prefer a different location) 10. Quebec City Meute (Haven't really ever liked Quebec, especially since the Valclique days)

  9. "I'm not really sure why people are still saying Riga and I won't be a thing because they think I hate Riga. I stated I'd go to Riga if they are committed to winning, much like every other team", said Markus King after a pre-draft workout for the VHL General Managers. King mentioned that Davos rose on his draft interests board because of their change in management and a new commitment to winning. Calgary also rose a bit just because of management changes, although the state of their prospects cupboard is a little bleak. Toronto remains a very possible destination as King has stated he wouldn't mind staying in Canada to build another dynasty in Toronto. King's agent Joey Kendrick also was the agent for former Toronto Legion winger Malcolm Kelly back in the 14th VHL Season. No one team was really crossed off his list for interested places however, Stockholm did mention they weren't taking a long look at the goaltender in the pre-draft workouts. King is committed to becoming a Hall-of-Fame goaltender and that sparked the interest of the Helsinki Titans who currently don't own a goaltender with that ceiling.

  13. Elliotte Friedman - So you have made the jump into the top five of TPE earners for the season 54 draft, Are you plkeased with the season you've had in the VHLM? Do you feel like a top five draftee? Hudson Abbott - Am I pleased with my season? What kind of question is that? Yeah I led all defensemen in regular season points, seventh in the league in points from the back end, Led the entire league in playoff points as a defenseman. When is the last time that has been done Friedman? Elliotte Friedman - Actually Friedrich Muller did it in season 51. Hudson Abbott - Who asked you anyway loser? Listen Muller had less points than I did and played two more games so I don't want to hear your bullshit. You asked me if I feel like a top five draftee. Well to be honest, NO I don't feel like a top five draftee, I feel like THE top draftee. Who do you think is better Friedman? Elliotte Friedman - (Laughs) What about the top ranked prospect Markus King? Hudson Abbott - What about him? He has 30 more practice hours than I do and yeah that is impressive. Considering he started six weeks before I did. Just taking my weekly minimum of 10 practice hours I'm ahead by 30 if we start at the same time. Elliotte Friedman - His agency has how many players in the Hall of Fame now? Cmon man. Hudson Abbott - When you stroke as much comish cock as this guy has... I'm joking you poor excuse for an interviewer but still I'm better. Fook Yu, we're tied in practice hours and he started six weeks before me. Federov is 12 practice hours behind me and he started 5 weeks before me. Ironside is 13 practice hours back and started 6 weeks prior to me. You are talking christmas bonus's these guys got and all kinds of other things I didn't see and if I had that 5-6 weeks I'd be in the 280's at this point so don't tell me about agencies and bullshit Friedman, the proof is in the pudding. Elliotte Friedman - Where do you think you will be drafted? Hudson Abbott - I don't know to be honest, I have been in contact with most teams and have told them all the same thing. They get three years of my time for drafting me and after that it's up to them to make me want to stay. I'm not asking a lot, have a competitive team and don't be a dick. If the team isn't competitive I will have no desire to stay. This player is going to be our agencies statement piece, Over 1,000 practice hours, multiple cups, league leading defender, trophies, you name it and I want it. Elliotte Friedman - So with your agency, what the hell is actually going on there? Hudson Abbott - Well we are Bushito agency, It was fun causing a little chaos and confusion while it lasted. Sterling knew who I was right off the start. Boubabi figured it out first without being told based off my graphic making. Then about three weeks later Kendrick came in with an oh shit I busted you and figured it out. By then there was half the league assuming I was Bushito But lets give Kendrick a hand regardless, good work Sherlock. Elliotte Friedman - So seeing as that is cleared up now, do you have anything to say to the players you left behind TWICE as a general manager? Hudson Abbott - Both times I left the site something dramatic happened in my life and I just didn't return, I'm not going into detail on either issue but I went about a month where I could not make it on and then you feel really bad and don't want to hear the bullshit so it's easier to stay away. But on that note since Kendrick asked me if I feel that being a GM in this league is easy. Yeah I do feel that being a GM is easy. Knight made one trade for Peters which was a great move and won the cup after I left. Seattle had zero trades or pick ups after I left and won a cup. Seattle had one player on the team or some shit when I took them over and 3 or 4 seasons later the had a cup. Both of those teams were stocked with assets when I left as well so cry me a river Kendrick. Am I sorry I left? Yes I am sorry to the league and especially the players on my team, even more so to @Da Trifecta. Do I think it's easy to be a GM? Yes. Do I think it's easy to create a goaltender? Fuck yes, if there weren't 18 professional level goaltenders already I would be one just to show you Kendrick, maybe my second player will be one in 2 more seasons, not sure. Elliotte Friedman - Speaking of becoming a GM, are you looking to get into that role for a third time? Hudson Abbott - I would love to if I'm being honest. I doubt the league would let me back into that position at this point. Maybe down the road if I prove myself. I'd say if I had put in a couple 1,000 plus TPE players and help the league out in some other ways as well as GMing Edmonton, I mean Olso and doing a great job then maybe I could do it again. I think Kendrick would be the biggest hurdle to jump. I mean the guy literally hates me and everyone here knows it despite what he said. The guy went from singing my praises and tagging me in articles to bashing me and not mentioning my player in another draft rankings after he figured I was Bushito. I mean I just led the league in playoff scoring and nothing in the draft ranking. Like I said earlier when I was GMing and had to leave for a month and then didn't want to listen to the bullshit if I came back so I just stayed away. What Bullshit do you think I was talking about? It's one member that makes me not like this league some times and he's a relentless little fucker and I may have left but at least my facebook is real not made up to impress high school kids.

  15. Las Vegas used to be a place for just parties and one hell of a good time. A place that scared away sport leagues because of the gambling and debauchery that goes on in the city. Well... Lots have changed in the last few months. First he NHL expanded to Las Vegas to create the Golden Knights then today Vegas got two more reasons to celebrate. The NFL agreed 31 votes to 1 to relocate the Oakland Raiders to Vegas by 2020 where they will be playing at 1.6 billion dollar stadium. Then hours later the VHLM announced that they were relocating their Bern Franchise to Las Vegas for the upcoming season. The team will be named the Aces and will be playing in the T-Mobile Arena. Las Vegas now has 3 teams to fall for and love. The Aces will play games before the other two will to help the city get used to the game of Hockey. They will have a brand new 20,000 seat arena to showcase the sport. If GM Robbie Zimmers has any say in the arena will be sold out for all the teams home games. He plans to bring a cup to Vegas even before the Golden Knights and Raiders even play a game in the city. He will be building from the net out with his new Goalie in Vernon Von Axelberry who has promised him that he will be in the VHLM next season. "When you have a brand new team in a brand new arena you can make magic happen. Cocaine may or may not be involved but that is a question for later. Till then let the city celebrate this stroke of great sport luck. Let them celebrate the Aces! The Aces are here to stay! Party at The Bellagio!"

Imagine the internal competition with these 2 on the same team as goalie. Would shatter the TPE records.. 2000 TPE minimum for both.

  23. That was a very creative way to do one of these in a sea full of Mock Drafts. Oh and I just realized that the quality players goes at least 11 picks deep, which means my TOR 2nd this season also has great value. I should try this drafting thing more often....

  28. Lynx Sweep Rush Out the Door Ottawa forward Motherfucker Sharpe celebrates after scoring his teams first goal in game four. YUKON, Canada - Going into the Founders Cup championship against the Ottawa Lynx, the Yukon Rush knew that they would certainly be facing an uphill battle. As it turns out, it was a much steeper uphill climb than they anticipated. In the series, the Rush only managed to score more than 1 goal once, and even then it was not enough as the super-powered Lynx were simply too strong and too skilled for the relatively younger and more inexperience Lynx. In game one, the Lynx jumped out to an early lead at 3:51 of the 1st period with a power-play goal thanks to a high sticking minor by Rush centerman Shawn Gretzky; Luigi de Rossi fired a bullet one timer over the shoulder of Torstein Ironside. Gretzky would later redeem himself at 16:33 of the 1st frame by finishing off a pretty passing play from Apollo Aho and Rudolph Schmeckeldorf. The tie score would be short lived though, as de Rossi tallied another goal 27 seconds later, giving the Lynx a 2-1 lead heading into the 1st intermission. The rest of the game would feature more shutdown play by the Lynx, and goals by Fook Yu and Hudson Abbott would seal the deal for the Lynx 4-1. Things appeared to change in game two for the Yukon Rush, as Fredinamijs Krigars scored just 2 minutes into the game to give the Rush their first lead of the series; the assists on Krigars goal going to Marty McDouglas and Apollo Aho. Later in the period however, a bad line change by the Rush would give Motherfucker Sharpe and Pablo a 2-on-1, of which the Lynx would convert, for Pablo's third goal of the post-season. John Locke would go on to score a goal in each of the next two periods to seal a game 2 victory for the Lynx. In game three, the Rush would again score first, with Jakub Pastrnak firing a slapshot through a screen of Ottawa and Yukon players on the powerplay; assists going to Dope Fiend and Aeschylus Jigglejawns CXXXVII. The Lynx would later convert on their own powerplay after Marty McDouglas committed an Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalty; Hudson Abbott scoring the goal with assists from John Locke and Fook Yu. The second period would see little action aside from two Ottawa penalties. The Rush fell apart in the third period, and the Lynx scored three goals, one each from Kevin Jalopski, Takashi Fujimoto, and Legubrious Tucker. The Yukon Rush appeared to show up in the do-or-die game 4, as much-maligned forward Austin Hickey V fired a wrister from the left circle through the five hole of Jacob for a much-needed one goal lead. The Rush took the lead into the 1st intermission, however in the 2nd period the Lynx came out firing as Motherfucker Sharpe scored five minutes in and then Pablo scored twice on the powerplay to give Ottawa a 3-1 lead heading into what would end up being the final period of the season. In the 3rd period, Fook Yu scored a fluky deflection goal that definitely appeared to dampen the spirits of the desperate Rush, for fourteen minutes at least, as the Rush would manage to scramble together two goals in the final five minutes to bring the score to within one goal, but it just wasn't enough. After the final buzzer, gloves and helmets flew into the air as the Ottawa Lynx secured their almost guaranteed Founders Cup victory.

  38. This was a good listen. You nailed it on the head regarding SHL vs VHL in a few cases there at the end. Especially about just GMing, and building through the draft versus building other ways. I think there certainly is some getting used to how focused the VHL experience is versus some of the more balanced, realistic approaches to sim leagues. Especially for members who have experience other places, how we do things certainly can throw some off at first. But your a classic example of someone who found his groove here and is now one of our better most consistent members. The mock had me laughing. Not just because your pre draft research had you making wild picks. But also because with the capacity for trades, and even with so many wild card GM's out here realistically even some of your predictions, such as King falling, are not that outlandish. Although you had him going to Quebec who has two other goalies, but hey @Frank makes wild choices. We all know this. I think the "all over the board" nature of some of the predictions is really indicative of how interesting of a first round we have. It's certainly not as by the numbers as most would think, as after I think the agreed Ironside first overall there is a lot of questions. With Seattle rebuilding that also makes things interesting. 54 has a real "shake up" feel going into that I think is probably going to be good for the league. Yeah Stockholm and Helsinki can be considered carryovers but they are really just getting started. A lot of young up and coming teams next season and a lot of options in terms of player movement, draft as well. Really only downside is a smaller FA market, but Holik could easily shake a team up heading there. Some good possibilities heading into the off-season, I'm interested to see how it all plays out. I should probably give you three paragraphs of thoughts since that is my thing and I'm already this far in. I really appreciated some of the in depth role play talk. I realize we all kind of do our own things here but it's good to look around and see others (and I know it's not just you and me) who put a stupid amount of thought into their character builds/ideas. Even backstories, whatever, we have a good healthy amount of dumb fun that goes on here around that stuff and everyone is kind of always doing their own thing and I have always dug that. It's not just about stats a lot of the time, it's about narrative. Anyway I'll try to shoot you some questions for next weeks, I've been listening to this show when I can and always enjoyed your editions. Sadly with acquiring a new roomate I've had to adjust my schedules and that is why my comments/questions have dropped a bit here, so apologies for that. Gotta support the casts yo!

    Müller Looking Towards S54

Before the draft, many had questions about Lukas Müller’s character - was he too self-centered to succeed in the VHL? Could he stick with one team? His talent wasn't in doubt, but there were questions about whether he had the dedication to be a top player in the VHL. Thus far, it seems like he's adjusted well to the big leagues. “I think I'll be in Quebec for the long haul,” Müller said in a press conference after the Meute’s elimination from the playoffs by New York. “The issue I’ve had in the past is a lack of respect and a lack of quality teammates. I have that now. We all work hard here, there's an understanding that we've got to work together and be able to rely on each other to succeed.” Next season will be very important for Quebec. With a young group of players and rumors swirling about Seattle’s possible rebuild, the Meute will be taking another step towards becoming a contender. Can they continue to improve?
