  2. The Elite 5 right here. *THE BEST!* 5. Matt Bentz@Matt S10, S15 champion +1 finals 4 seasons as a VHLM GM Not only he pulled up the first two-peat in VHL's league history, he also managed to make the historically bad Syracuse/Minot franchise to a relevant thing. 3 finals and 2 cups in 4 seasons is some phenomenal shit, I swear. The only thing he didn't win, is Ken Holland Trophy - Zach Arce from Moscow was able to steal that award from Matt's hands in S15. Other than that, a very solid VHLM GM tenure from the man who was one of the best VHL managers in S9-S19 period. 4. Jardy Bunclewirth @JardyB10 S19, S46 champion S19 Ken Holland Trophy winner S46 Jack Reilly Trophy winner +3 finals 11 seasons as a VHLM GM (current Ottawa GM) He is the last manager who led Minot to the cup in S19. His next comeup happened 27 seasons later, in S46 when he took the Ottawa Lynx and won the cup right away. He is the only VHLM GM who won Ken Holland and Jack Reilly Trophy award. Needless to say that he is a very good junior GM, despite of his 2/11 record. He would've been higher on this list if I created the GREATEST VHLM GM's list, but right now, he's #4 on my list. One more cup - and he's very close to first. Also, he's on pace for VHLM GM tenure record, although he needs 5 more seasons to do it. Yes, it's not so easy to set up the record, @The Bread Man. 3. Blake Campbell @Banackock S47, S48 champion S44, S47, S48 Jack Reilly Trophy winner 5 seasons as a VHLM GM He joined the VHL only in S41, but he didn't had to wait long before VHLM commishes gave him the Bratislava Watchmen to manage. And he didn't disappoint - he cleaned up the mess after DT's disimiss and made Brat's great again in S47 and 48. Also, he managed to grab the Jack Reilly trophy in S44 (not even mentioning the championship seasons) despite not being even in finals - that's a very rare thing here. And we could speculate who was the more legit winner: Sasky's Brody Hodgson ( @Tylar ), who is only one of two GM's after Reilly who led the Wild to the Cup (Adwyer is second); Glasser from Oslo or Campbell. The numbers don't lie though - 3 votes were enough for Blake to win that award. He produced a nice 2/5 record before taking Seattle after his second championship. 2. Austin Gow @eaglesfan036 S37, S38 champion S37, S38, S41 Ken Holland trophy winner +2 finals 6 seasons as a VHLM GM And now you know the answer: yes, he had more success with GM'ing the VHLM team than his ''brother'' Jim Gow. I don't know, if he was a creator of YUKON 2 GUD thing, but no matter who created it, his Yukon indeed was 2 gud. He made the Rush the powerhouse franchise: after his win in S38, Yukon already had 4 cups. The sad thing his second cup was the last for Yukon so far, although he wasn't so far in S41 when his team faced Bratislava in finals. He lost that series, but he added another Ken Holland Trophy to his trophy shelf. His three-straight finals appearances, 2 cups and 3 GM trophies is darn impressive stat for any manager. He has the similar accolades as Banackock's, but Eagle's 4 finals little bit outweighs Bana's accomplishments, hence he is listed second here. 1. Jack Reilly @CoachReilly S24, S25, S28 champion S18, S24, S25, S28 Ken Holland Trophy award +1 finals 12 seasons as a VHLM GM There's indeed a reason why the VHLM GM award was renamed after Jack Reilly in S42. And forget about his 3/12 record - he turned Saskatoon from a piss-poor organization to a dominant force in S24-28 period. His first accomplishment came in S18, though - he didn't even make it into the finals, but he was awarded the Ken Holland award. After some failed attempts after S18 he took VHLM by storm:two-peat in S24-25, S27 finals and another cup in S28. He's the only VHLM manager who won 3 cups and only Jardy has a chance to join him in the near future. So you can say what you want, but he is the most successful and one of the greatest VHLM GM ever. His 12 stright seasons with Saskatoon can be described only in one word: WILD! Well deserved first place imo. That's it, I'm out. 6 TPE goes to Petenis.

  6. Hi from Russia. I'm having a nice team here, but there's a problem. I have a lots of ideas for media threads, but my motivation is fading and parties doesn't allow me to create a quality topic. Despite of this, I created another VHLM related topic - the 10 most successful VHLM GM's - right now! NOTES: 1.The first VHLM GM award happened in S15 and was named after Ken Holland, the current GM and executive Vice President of the Detroit Red Wings. The award was renamed to Jack Reilly Trophy in S42; 2. There can be some questions, like why a memeber with no GM awards is still on TOP10. That's why this is the most SUCCESSFUL GM list, not greatest; *Ready to win!* 10. Joey Kendrick @Kendrick S14 champion S40 Ken Holland Trophy winner +2 finals 11 seasons as a VHLM GM I've heard he is about to try his luck at GM'ing a VHLM team once again. Not a surprise, knowing his cumulative 11-season reign. Will his tenure be long, if he gets the GM job? I have some doubts about it, because the longest his reign was 3 seasons long; also, he GM'ed 4 teams (2 times with Fresno/Saskatoon) during his GM era. Other than that, he still had a nice time with managing the junior teams - 1 cup with Brampton, 1 VHLM GM award with Saskatoon, plus 2 finals and an impressive 11-season reign. He's quite unlucky about the best VHLM GM award though: he won the cup in S14 - one season before the award was created. 9. Mario De Rossi @KitRas S40, S41 champion 3 seasons as a VHLM GM He probably is the first GM ever who made a two-peat and didn't win the best manager award. We already know who got the award in S40; as for S41, it was Austin Gow who won the Ken Holland trophy for the last time before it was renamed. I don't know why he had such a hard time with GM trophies, probably because he wasn't really involved with his team (I didn't read S40 and 41 threads yet). Anyway, we can't take the two-peat away from Mario, so he's at #9 on the most successful VHLM GM list. 8. Vince Wong @STZ S33, S36 champion S33, S36 Ken Holland Trophy winner 8 seasons as a VHLM GM He's the first man who made an expansion Bratislava team a thing after Yukon's (another expansion team) debut takeover in S31. As the history tells, it's not an easy job to make a contender from a team right after its creation, but it's still possible. S33 and S36 Watchmen as much as S31+S34 Yukon and S35 Quebec can tell you a lot. Unfortunately for Vince, these two seasons are the only ones he was on top, although he spent 6 seasons with Bratislava + another 2-season reign with Bern (S44-45). But no matter how things went during his GM tenure, his accolades are good enough for being a TOP 10 VHLM GM so far. 7. Jim Gow @Fire Hakstol S35, S39 champion S35, S39 Ken Holland Trophy winner 7 seasons as a VHLM GM Ottawa is still the most successful VHLM franchise of all time and Jim in one of the reasons why the Lynx is so legit. Ottawa is the only team he managed and it makes more impressive as he spent 7 seasons straight with one team. Not 12-season reign from Reilly though. Also, he was a VHLM Commish two times(?), so he was bigger than just a winner of the junior league. Actually Vince Wong and Jim have the same cup and GM trophy count, but Vince spent 1 season more as a GM, hence Jim is 7th on my list. Interesting fact: his ''brother'' Austin Gow was managing a VHLM team as well. Did he a better job than Jim? We will see. 6. Jason Glasser @diamond_ace S21, S23 champion S21, S23 Ken Holland Trophy winner +1 finals 9 seasons as a VHLM GM He still holds the longest-tenured GM record among all VHL and VHLM managers - 16 seasons with Calgary. But before that, he had a strong preview with the Lynx team, adding another two cups to Ottawa's trophy shelf and quite obviously that his effort paid off with 2 Holland's. His tenure with Ottawa wasn't the only one: he also made it to the S44 finals with Oslo during his three-season reign with them. In total, he spent 25(!) seasons while being a VHL and VHLM team GM (he took a season off in S42, otherwise it would've been 26 staright seasons as a GM) which is dayuuum impressive. By the way, he came back to VHL recently...could we see another his run? The elite 5 comes soon. 6 TPE goes to Petenis.

  7. Phil

    The Biggest Bust

Well holy shit it's Sunday night again. This means that for the second consecutive week, @Phil has not done a point task for Shankly. This is especially troublesome because since coming back to full activity 4 seasons into Phil Villeneuve's career (yea how many of you remember that scrub?) I have not missed a point task. I've done hundreds of Media spots and Podcasts during my time here, but now for the first time since "being active" I've missed 2 full weeks of PTs. This is not good. We could blame it on the fact that I now have a woman. But that's unfair to her and just a lie. I just have not been bothered to do it. What I have been doing in my spare time is working on a Mass-Building Program that is very unique to anything you'll find anywhere. My working title for it is "Swole-osophy" and I will be testing this 8-week program on myself starting next week. I use periodization and reverse periodization to keep the body guessing as to what's coming next and increase muscle buidling. I am highly confident that this program will work magic. The point is... Shankly's a bust.

  9. Matt was my first GM! He was with Calgary longer than those two seasons though, I think he was Calgary's longest tenured GM before Jason beat everyone for that. He may or may not be in the Builder HOF.

I like the render efx, but I think the whites are washed up. The BG is clean and I like it. I'm not a fan of the sub text (yukon rush), and I think a normal clear white text would do the trick. good work tho
