  6. A recent addition to the Houston Bulls of off waivers is the ever-humble, Johnny Tsunami. Potent with offensive vision and playmaking ability, Tsunami joins an already offense heavy Bulls that sit 3rd in the standings as a result. "I know that I am the missing piece that Houston needs to push them from 3rd to 1st", Tsunami told reporters prior to his first ever practice day with his new teammates. New linemates Elf Shoes (@ELF_SH0ES) and Cole Stermer (@Bazeus) stand to improve on their already league-leading points totals - both at 27 points at the 18-game mark of the season. "I'm only gonna serve 'em up fresh dimes. If they're not scoring even more...than well I got a problem." Tsunami made it clear why he chose Houston as his first foray into the VHLM, "...they have the least amount of pieces missing in my opinion. I fill a hole that didn't really need to be filled but definitely helps solidify the team - once the front office gets some defense in here... let's just say if you think Houston was doing well before I got here, just wait." 7. 1. The season has started! Through the first week of sims, how has your player been performing? Just joining the team, I can see that we are very strong offensively and I certainly hope to only add to that potent offense. I'm looking forward to my first few games with the guys myself and I'm sure that we'll be able to keep the momentum moving forward. 2. Houston has been playing some good hockey to kick start our season. What has been your player's go to pre-game meal/routine/ritual to get ready to play each game? Well you gotta load up on your protein and carbs before the game, so a dish called Loco Moco is what I like to make right before the game. It's just white rice, a hamburger patty, an egg and some brown gravy! Super simple, but very delicious and it gets me all the energy I need! 3. On the road can be a bore with all the travel time and just sitting around. When the team hops on the team bus or jet for games, what keeps you busy while traveling? This is going to sound a bit cliche, but just a good ole hackeysack is all I need. Just enough for me to pass the time by passing it around to myself. I can bounce it off walls, people, chairs, you name it! 4. If you remember last week I asked how you think we would play in the first 10 games. Fast forward and we finished 6-4! What has been keeping us above a .500 record so far? Like I said before, this time has a very potent offense and it shows! We out score our opponents by a lot when we win, and keep it close when we lose. The offense has to be a contributor to the game. 5. Houston needs defence! We left the draft only securing two and it shows on the stat sheet as our current defenders play a lot of minutes. Should management start considering trades? Should we wait until trade deadline? Should we hope for a waiver to sign? What would you do to sign another defender for the team? Man, they really roll the dice on waiting for waiver signings. But let's be real, they also picked me up off the waivers and I already know I'm going to be a star. I have a lot to prove, so I'll just let my skill speak for me on the ice. 6. Tell me something funny about growing up playing hockey (or make something up for your player). I remember when I was growing up playing I was at my teammate's house on the lake and they shovel the ice to skate on it. We were a little too excited to get started and the ice wasn't fully solid yet. I fell right through about 2 feet deep of water and was soaked. I actually never learned to ice skate until pretty recently. Growing up in Florida, it's easier to come by a street rink for roller blades than it is an ice rink or practice arena. So I got scouted from a street hockey circuit instead of the traditional ice hockey path. All that said, I looked real dumb getting used to pucks instead of balls!

  14. Life as the GM of the Mexico City Kings – Trade talks As I noted at the beginning of the season, I am going to do a series of media spots about the ongoing thoughts I have related to being a first season GM. Up to now I have covered the offseason prep for the draft and then how I progressed through the draft itself. Originally, I thought that I would do my media spot this week on the ongoing drama of the waiver system, from following new players coming into the league to building a waiver pitch, to the frustration of watching players leave immediately after creating. It was set to be a dramatic piece filled with angst and frustration. But then early this afternoon another situation came up and I thought this might be a good topic to discuss while it was occurring. Now to protect individual teams and players I am not going to name anyone. And as I write this we are not extremely far into discussion and potentially nothing could happen but the beginning of trade talks have started. Now for those who don’t know I am going to give you a small glimpse behind the secret curtain. The VHLM GM have a private chat group on discord where we talk about several things, mainly asking the commissioners to clarify rules. However, this afternoon one of the GM noted that they had player(s) that they may consider trading. They provided reasoning which I am not going to share but let me reassure everyone it had nothing to do with the individual player(s). Looking to find a way to improve my roster and help secure a playoff position, I looked at the player(s) and thought there may be some potential as long as I didn’t have to give up too much. So, I reached out to the GM and a DM conversation started. Now I will fully admit that it is about how far things have gone so everything I am going to discuss are my thoughts. The first conundrum with trade talk is how do you evaluate players. More importantly how do you evaluate a player who at any time could become inactive and may not be on your team at the end of the season? How do you evaluate someone who is not fully developed? Then how do you evaluate what you may be willing to give for today without mortgaging the next season? The second conundrum is how do you position yourself in your first inter GM conversation, how do you build a reputation of being a fair but tough trade partner? Honestly, you don’t want the reputation of being a push over, but you also don’t want the reputation of being a jerk. How do you get the most, pay the least but gain respect in the process? All I know is that there are so many variables at play, and I can’t know for sure what is going to happen, but I can suggest that there is a unique level of excitement in the process. You will have to wait to find out what happens if anything.

We are going to do a predictive press conference 1) DO you think Mexico is going to make the playoff, why? 2) Will the Mexico back up goalie have more wins than losses, why? 3) How many Mexico City Kings will end up in the top 10 for points, why? 4) Which Mexico Player will have the most goals in season 93, why? 5) Which Mexico player will have the most assists in season 93, why? 6) Which Mexico player will end with the most penalty minutes in season 93, why?
